Ireland and Ukraine in triple digits, five teams still unbeaten

SARAJEVO (FIBA U18 Women's European Championship 2016 Division B) - Five teams are still unbeaten in Sarajevo, but Greece are the only squad with a 3-0 record.

Greek players displayed powerful defence in the second and third quarters, holding Estonia to a combined 13 points in those 20 minutes. The game finished 53-38, Elena Tsineke continued her fine form with 19 points, 3 rebounds and 2 steals. Stavriani Vintsilaiou had 6 points, 14 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assists in an all-round performance.

Also in Group C, Ireland hit the century mark. Their team jumped to 2-1 record after a 100-39 win over the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, with all 12 Irish players spending at least 11 minutes on the court. Louise Scannell led four players in double digits with 18 points in as many minutes, Claire Melia had 11 points, 11 rebounds and 5 blocks.

In Group B, Ukraine set a tournament-high for points scored in a 101-42 win over Albania. Valeriya Proskurina scored 16 points, Viktoriia Kovalevska was the only other Ukrainian player in double figures with 12. Three more players had nine points, whilst five added eight each.

Ukraine are at 2-1, but Belarus are the team to beat in Group B, as they stand at 2-0. Belarus defeated Denmark 92-63 on Day 3 of competition, Maryia Vasileuka had team-highs of 23 points, 8 rebounds and 3 blocks. Aryna Masko scored 22 points on 7-of-9 shooting for the winning team.

Group A has two teams with two wins in as many games. Bosnia and Herzegovina held off Portugal for a 65-54 victory in Sarajevo, with another big game by Melisa Brcaninovic, the author of 22 points and 15 rebounds. Iceland keep following Bosnia and Herzegovina, even when it comes to winning margins. Their 62-51 win over Romania saw two double-doubles: Elin Soley Hrafnkelsdottir collected 15 points and 13 rebounds, Sylvia Run Halfdanardottir had 10 and 12.

Sweden took control of Group D, also on a 2-0 record. Klara Lundquist finished with 17 points and 8 rebounds in a 64-38 triumph over Germany, who are now tied with Bulgaria in the fight for the second place. Bulgaria had no trouble with Scotland, their 90-43 win was secured with a dominant first half. Klaudia Penkova scored 14 points in 17 minutes of play.
