Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denmark and Ukraine complete Quarter-Finals lineup

SKOPJE (FIBA U16 Women's European Championship 2017, Division B) - Denmark, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Ukraine were the last teams to qualify for the Quarter-Finals at the FIBA U16 Women's European Championship 2017, Division B on Tuesday in Skopje.

Denmark found their way to the top of Group D by defeating Switzerland 58-44 and finishing the Group Phase with a 5-0 record, with Malene Pedersen and Julianna Okosun leading the team to an assured victory in the decisive game.

Pederson collected a team-high 12 points for the winners, Okosun double-doubled with 11 points and 12 rebounds, while Emma Chardon finished with 12 points, 10 rebounds, 3 blocks and 2 steals for Switzerland, who played without their key player Charlotte Kohler.

The fact that the Swiss side picked up a loss and dropped to a 3-2 mark allowed Bosnia and Herzegovina to slide into second place after handling Great Britain a 56-43 loss behind the two-way performance of Marija Keseljevic, who collected 16 points, 7 steals and 5 rebounds.

Also in the group, the Slovak Republic finished the Group Phase on a positive note by topping Albania 68-48 to finish fourth behind Denmark, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Switzerland.

Meanwhile, Ukraine swooped up the only other remaining ticket to the Quarter-Finals with a 68-46 victory over Ireland in Group B after overcoming a rocky start and a 12-point deficit in the opening quarter.

The Irish side actually still held a 39-38 lead heading into the fourth period, but the Myroslava Topchyi and Vladyslava Kiba-led Ukrainians went on to score 28 unanswered points to blow out their opponents in the final frame despite trailing for most of the encounter.

Kiba led the winners with 20 points, 9 rebounds and 4 steals, Topchyi collected 20 points, 5 boards and 3 assists, while Viktoriia Rostotska chipped in with a double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds with 3 blocks on the side.

Katie Williamson collected 17 points and 10 rebounds for Ireland and Katie Walshe netted 16 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and came up with 3 steals.

Group B leaders Belgium finished their unbeaten run in the Group Phase with a 94-57 victory over the tournament hosts, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, while Slovenia picked apart Moldova 96-18 to finish third, being denied entry into the Play-Offs by Ukraine's powerful fourth-quarter performance against Ireland.

Portugal claimed the top spot in Group A by topping the also previously undefeated Finland, 51-48 with Mariana Carvalho scoring a team-high 15 points and adding 7 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assists.
