Gimenez, Spain survive tough fight from Germany to be among five undefeated teams

SKOPJE (North Macedonia) - Spain needed all they could manage but grabbed a second win in two days as they fended off Germany on Day 2 at the FIBA U16 European Championship 2023 where five teams are still perfect.

Top Performers

France had no trouble in walloping the hosts North Macedonia with Jonas Boulefaa grabbing a day's-best efficiency of 28. He picked up 16 points on 8-of-10 shots and also had 10 rebounds - 7 off them from the offensive glass, 3 assists and 1 steal.

Lithuania rolled once again for a 2-0 record as they beat Belgium and a major reason for that was Ainardas Misius, who had an efficiency of 24. The big man scored 15 points off the bench on 6-of-8 shooting and 3-of-4 free throws while also picking up 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 1 block.

Cengiz Coskun had a strong game for Turkey but his efficiency of 23 was not enough to help get a win over Slovenia. The guard tallied 23 points on 8-of-14 shots and 4-of-6 free throws, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 4 steals.

Another player also had a 23 efficiency in a loss with Ralfs Rudusans scoring 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting and 1-of-2 foul shots in Latvia's loss to Greece. He finished with a double-double as he grabbed 12 rebounds and added 1 assist and 1 steal.

The fifth player among the top performers was Ian Lazarevski of Slovenia, who contributed 18 points on 5-of-11 shots and 6-of-6 from the free throw line, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 steals in a victory over Turkey.
