Uniqa Sopron swoop for services of Ajdukovic

SOPRON (EuroLeague Women) - Uniqa Sopron have strengthened their roster for the last few weeks of the EuroLeague Women Regular Season with the addition of Serbian center Tijana Ajdukovic.

Her arrival means the Hungarian League champions will now have a trio of 2015 EuroBasket Women winners on their roster, since Ajdukovic will link up with her compatriots Sara Krnjic and Aleksandra Crvendakic. She is also no stranger to Hungary, having previously played at PINKK-Pesci 424 earlier in her career.

Uniqa Sopron are currently 4-7 in Group B and still chasing either a Quarter-Final place or perhaps more realistically, fifth or sixth spot which would see them parachuting into the last eight of EuroCup Women.

"Our team is making a huge effort in EuroLeague Women, but you can see they're lacking stamina," explained Board Director, Zoltán Torok.

"We don't have enough players. Our solid advantage in the group phase for a promotion spot that we built up until the injury to Binta Drammeh has now gone.

"That is why Tijana Ajdukovic is joining us. Our technical staff now have to reconsider certain roles, and we can only tell afterwards, whether or not this step will prove successful.

"One thing is for sure - we haven't given up on our dreams to keep competing in European competition [beyond the Regular Season]," he added.

Ajdukovic arrives from the Turkish League where she was stepping out with Adana Botas and has previously suited up in EuroLeague Women with Energa Torun, Sparta&K M.R. Vidnoje and ZVVZ USK Prague.
