Sopron backcourt duo leads Week 8 Top Performers

MUNICH (EuroLeague Women) - Yvonne Turner delivered a red-hot performance on Wednesday night to get Uniqa Sopron back on the winning track in EuroLeague Women Group B.

Having suffered two defeats in a row, Sopron hosted Polkowice and could rely on their backcourt to guide them to a 76-64 win. Turner recorded a personal season-high of 34 points on 11-of-17 shooting from the field, which marked the third time this season she scored 30 or more points.

The 29-year-old guard spent the entire game on the court and completed her stat line with 5 points, 3 assists and 4 steals to finish with an efficiency ranking of 34 and headline this week’s Top Performers.

Turner’s performance was perfectly complemented by fellow American guard Shenise Johnson. Having last suited up for Sopron back in 2013, the 26-year-old celebrated her return to the club with a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds.

On the other end, Isabelle Harrison enjoyed her best game of the season, but could not prevent another loss for Polkowice, as the Polish club remains winless. Harrison amassed 26 points and 12 rebounds for an efficiency of 32 to earn a first-time nomination in the weekly Top Performers.

Another player whose efforts were not rewarded with a win for her team is Courtney Paris. The 1.93m center collected an outstanding 20 points and 21 rebounds in Hatay’s 63-54 loss at Nadezhda. It was her fourth double-double in a row and fifth overall in eight games this season.

Sonja Petrovic completes the line-up after helping ZVVZ USK Prague to a comfortable 83-56 win over Uni Gyor. Prague enjoyed a balanced offense, with five players scoring in double figures. The Serbian international chipped in with 14 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists to stay atop the efficiency charts with an average ranking of 24.8.
