EuroLeague Women Week 13: Social media spotlight and reaction

MUNICH (EuroLeague Women) We check in with some of those involved in Week 13 of the Regular Season and take a look at how the action went down on social media.

They may have lost 69-63 at Tango Bourges, but it has still been a fruitful week for Perfumerias Avenida. After winning the Copa de La Reina, they maintained the head-to-head against Bourges and punched a ticket to the Quarter-Finals.

"Congratulations to Bourges as they played a very good game and they were deserving of this victory," mused Avenida head coach, Miguel Ortega.

"I think that maybe the Spanish Cup meant that we lost a lot of the energy we needed, but we have to be happy that we are still in third place in the Group."

And, their loss was due to some stunning plays by Bourges - including this amazing catch, shoot and score from Marine Johannes!

CCC Polkowice signed off their last home game in the competition with only their second win of the campaign as they eased out ESBVA-LM 77-68. It was a result that left head coach Maros Kovacik in a good mood and the players able to celebrate in front of their own fans - a rarity this season.

He said: "I am proud of my team because we played a good match.

"We were aggressive in defense and the bench players were very good as they brought us 34 points.

"It is just a pity that our adventure with EuroLeague Women is ending."

Meanwhile their Polish rivals Wisla Can-Pack will also soon end their participation in the competition - but get to parachute into the EuroCup Women Quarter-Finals after winning 83-74 at Mersin. An outcome that delighted head coach, Jose Hernandez.

There was also huge satisfaction for Fenerbahce in the Czech capital - and that was just Ayse Cora getting a selfie with a famous Turkish actor and presenter Engin Altan Duzyatan at the airport.

As for the on-court action, Fenerbahce wrapped up second place in Group A with an excellent 71-63 success against ZVVZ USK Prague.

"It was a very important victory for us," said Sandrine Gruda, who was quick to point out what a great advert the contest was for EuroLeague Women.

"It was a tough game and Prague came with an aggressive defense, so we had to adjust our game to this.

"I have to give credit to Prague, snce they showed very good basketball.

"It was a breathtaking game, amazing for the fans and very close in the score all the way up until the end.

"And luckily, we were better in the last couple of shots," concluded the center.
