Trio of Quarter-Final tickets snapped up

MUNICH (EuroCup Women) - Three tickets for the EuroCup Women Quarter-Finals were taken on Thursday night as Yakin Dogu Universitesi, Galatasaray and Good Angels Kosice all advanced to the next phase.

Overturning a nine-point gap from the first-leg in Venice, Yakin Dogu Universitesi benefitted from a rapid-fire opening as they got onto the front foot early to eventually ride their way to a 66-45 triumph.

It was Kayla McBride and Courtney Vandersloot who provided the foundation for victory as the duo combined for 42 points, with the latter also adding 6 assists and 5 steals.

"We are really happy about the qualification," said Turkey national team forward and club captain, Bahar Caglar.

"We lost by nine points during the game in Italy which was a new thing for us this season in EuroCup Women.

"But with the level of our focus and our determination, we got what we wanted and I congratulate all my team-mates for the fight on the court."

Galatasaray made it three Turkish teams in the last eight and joined Yakin Dogu, as well as Bellona Agu who booked their slot 24 hours earlier. However, they didn't have it all their own way against Virtus Eirene Ragusa.

Holding a 10-point advantage from the game in Italy, Galatasaray watched it be reduced to just four by their opponents in the last quarter, but a strong finish handed them a 68-66 win. It was Moriah Jefferson who continued to impress with 24 points, while Erlana Larkins had a superb 19 points and 18 boards in defeat.

Good Angels Kosice held their nerve at rookies VBW CEKK Cegled to end the excellent campaign of the surprise team of the season. The Slovak Republic champions were already 15 points to the good from the first encounter and finished the job with a 77-70 road victory thanks mainly to 22 points from Teja Oblak.
