Day 4 recap: Spectacular Salaun and Reichert light it up, Italy lock down Belgium, Greece win thriller

MUNICH (Germany) - There was much to admire on Day 4 of the  FIBA U20 Women's European Challengers and not least the best individual displays of the tournament so far from Janelle Salaun of France and Marie Reichert of Germany.

Both players showed why they are potential senior stars of the future,  as each amassed a phenomenal efficiency valuation of over 40.

Headlines:
- France stay perfect after a spectacular performance from Salaun against Poland in Konya Challenger.
- The usually prolific Belgium get shut down by unbeaten Italy and Marie Reichert of Germany shows out against Bulgaria in the Sofia Challenger.
- Greece pip Switzerland with dramatic one-point win in Yerevan Challenger.

Sofia: Marie Reichert (GER) - 42 EFF / 25 PTS / 17 REB / 6 BLK / 5 AST
Konya: Janelle Salaun (FRA) - 44 EFF / 26 PTS / FG 65% / 21 REB / 4 AST
Yerevan: Lin Schwarz (SUI) - 28 EFF, 20 PTS / 72% FG / 10 REB

Sofia Challenger:



Day 4 results:  A nice performance from Vanesa Jasa provided the foundation for Latvia to ease out Croatia 69-64 as she claimed 17 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists for her team. Italy slowed down the free-scoring Belgium in impressive fashion to take a 54-48 success behind 26 points from Alessandra Orsili. Germany took a one-sided 77-51 win against hosts Bulgaria after Marie Reichert's incredible contribution. 

Konya Challenger:



Day 4 results: Janelle Salaun's monstrous double-double paved the way for France to move to 3-0 as they strolled past Poland 71-54. Zeynep Gul posted 22 points as Turkey got rolling with a first win of the competiton as they breezed past Belarus 83-59. Meanwhile Russia had to work hard to see off Portugal, gaining a 66-60 triumph thanks to a 21-7 last period.

Yerevan Challenger:

Day 4 results: There was agony for Switzerland as Greece took a dramatic 69-68 victory and the defeat was particularly harsh on Swiss star Lin Schwarz who had 15 points and 19 boards. Lilia Anna Karakasidou scored 21 points for the winning side. Ukraine gained a 79-66 victory against Armenia despite 25 points for the hosts from Patil Yaacoubian.

Skopje Challenger:

Day 4 results: Luxembourg coasted to another win as they took down Kosovo 91-57 thanks mainly to 19 points from Kim Sowa, with Agnesa Rrahmani replying with 20 points in defeat. The still perfect Slovakia dominated Romania 74-52 and moved to 3-0 in the standings..

FIBA
