Day 3 recap: Latvia bounce back, third time lucky for Spain, Hungary stay perfect

MUNICH (Germany) - The third day of the FIBA U20 Women's European Challengers saw Latvia gain confidence with a first victory, Spain taking a win at the third attempt and Hungary extending their unbeaten streak.

Headlines:
- Latvia show resilience to beat Germany and get off the mark in the Sofia Challenger.
- Spain belatedly got rolling with a win after routing Ireland in the Sopron Challenger.
- Hungary win an exciting clash against Israel to move to 3-0 in the Sopron Challenger.

Sofia Challenger:



Day 3 results:  Latvia got off the mark as they bounced back from their mauling at the hands of Belgium to ride past Germany 66-56 off the back of 26 points and 8 boards from Laura Meledere. A 15-point and 10-rebound display by Viktorija Curic was not enough for Croatia as they went down 67-51 to Italy, Meanwhile Belgium erupted offensively for the second day in a row as they soared past hosts Bulgaria 89-53.

Konya Challenger:



Day 3 results: Russia made light work of doubling their win tally after securing an 88-60 derby win against neighbors Belarus. The talented Janelle Salaun showed out with 18 points and 10 rebounds for France as they moved past Turkey with ease for a 74-54 win. Poland relied on two excellent performances, from Zuzanna Kulinska and Weronika Piechowiak, as they inspired an 86-51 triumph against Portugal.

Yerevan Challenger:

Day 3 results: After making headlines with a rare win on Day 2, Albania were handed a reality check by Greece who posted a massive 112-45 success. Ukraine did the business in the last quarter against Switzerland to secure a 75-70 victory, spearheaded by 25 points from Anastasiia Kucheronok.

Sopron Challenger:

Day 3 results: After starting the tournament with two losses, there was a much needed victory for Spain as they strolled past Ireland 94-29. Serbia improved to 2-1 after handing Czech Republic their first loss. Visnja Stefanovic had 23 points and 10 rebounds, while Nadezda Nedeljkov fired 28 points in an 85-76 victory. Finally, hosts Hungary extended their unbeaten run to three games, but had to fight hard to see off Israel 61-56.

Skopje Challenger:

Day 3 results: Slovakia are yet to taste defeat as they beat Luxembourg 67-47 thanks mainly to a super defensive display from Ema Rodakova who had 9 steals in the contest. Romania got their campaign off to a winning start as they eased past North Macedonia 78-55.
