Day 7 recap: Slovakia remain undefeated in Piestany Challenger

MUNICH (Germany) - The seventh day of the FIBA U16 Women's European Challengers saw Piestany taking the baton and it was local favorites Slovakia who headlined as they improved to 4-0 after easing past Israel, who lost for the first time at the event.

Headlines:
- Undefeated Slovakia move closer to title after inflicting defeat on previously unbeaten Israel.
- Ireland and Luxembourg still both without a victory  and set up a last day showdown on Monday to avoid winless campaign.

Day 7 results: An electrifying start to the game by Slovakia paved the way for a 61-44 success against Israel as they jumped out on their opponents with a 24-9 opening period and never looked back. Ema Szmerekova top scored with 14 points, while Alexandra Chovanikova added 11 points.

A strong finish propelled Switzerland to a 60-49 win against Luxembourg, with Viktoria Ranisavljevic producing an all-action 18 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. As usual, Faith Ehi Etute was immense in defeat with 18 points, 16 rebounds, 7 steals and 3 assists.  Meanwhile Ireland are still searching for their first win after going down 69-37 to Romania as Sorina Oinaru stood out with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 2 steals.  

All other Challengers concluded as below on Saturday August 14 with France, Spain, Slovenia, Russia and Germany set to join hosts Hungary at the FIBA U17 Women's Basketball World Cup 2022 in Debrecen.
