McBride crowned Final Four MVP after magical show in Mersin

MERSIN (Türkiye) - There was a double celebration for Kayla McBride after the Fenerbahce Alagoz Holding standout added to her third EuroLeague Women title win by also being named the Final Four MVP.

The guard was at the center of her team's success after showing out in the crunch 89-80 Semi-Final win against arch rivals Cukurova Basketbol Mersin. She was too hot to handle for the opposing defense and stepped off court having dropped some seriously clutch shots en-route to 25 points, along with 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals.

Then in Sunday's 106-73 Final victory against Villeneuve d'Ascq LM, she claimed a fine 17 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists.

Across both games at Final Four, McBride averaged 21.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 6.0 assists. 1.5 steals and a stellar 28.0 efficiency.

"I have been with this club for four years and losing in Istanbul [two years ago] was hard," reflected McBride.

"This win is about my teammates and all the things that we go through on a daily basis. We all have lives outside of this and we go through lots of things to get to this point. I am so thankful for the special people I am with every day.

"I am super proud and couldn't care less about the Final Four MVP as long as we have this trophy."

McBride also took a moment to pay tribute to playcaller Valerie Garnier who switched back from coaching in the men's game to pick up the Fenerbahce reins.

"Valerie has been amazing for us all year," stated the guard.

"It was a different situation from last year to this year, but she really believed in us. I thanked her after the game and I am so happy for her as a female coach to lead us to this Championship," she concluded.
