Everything you need to know about the EuroLeague Women Qualifiers

MUNICH (Germany) - The 2023-24 EuroLeague Women campaign is about to get rolling, with several clubs from right across the continent all gearing up for the highly anticipated Qualifiers.

Here's a quick-fire guide to everything you need to know.

What's at stake and when are the games?

There are just three tickets on offer for the EuroLeague Women Regular Season and every one of the six competing clubs have their eyes fixed firmly on the cherished prize of making the main phase of the competition.

The Qualifiers draw produced three mouth-watering ties, with the winner of each progressing. Games will be played on a home and away basis, with the first meetings taking place on Wednesday, September 20 and the second matchups a week later on Wednesday, September 27.

The full Qualifiers schedule is available HERE.

Who are the clubs in the Qualifiers?

DVTK Hun-Therm (HUN) vs London Lions (GBR)

Last season was a memorable one for DVTK Hun-Therm as they not only participated in their first Regular Season, they also made people sit up and take notice by winning plenty of games and finishing with a 6-8 record. Now they must replicate the first part which was getting past the Qualifiers. Returnees like Darcee Garbin, Milica Jovanovic will be vital, while new arrivals include Reka Lelik, Ana Tadic, Monica Grigalauskyte and American Kaila Charles.

London Lions are chasing history and seeking to become the first British club to ever appear in the Regular Season. And, they're using the main stars from the national team to do it, with Holly Winterburn returning and a number of eye-catching signings including Temi Fagbenle, Karlie Samuelson, Savannah Wilkinson and Cheridene Green - who played for DVTK last season. With Ivana Katanic and Juicy Landrum also in the mix for the Qualifiers, they could be seen as favorites to advance.

TTT Riga (LAT) vs ACS Sepsi-SIC (ROU)

The iconic TTT Riga have 18 titles from back during the halcyon days of 1959-1982. While recent decades have been a lot more modest in terms of results, they have regularly featured and after skipping last season, the Latvian club is looking for a return. Pacing their tilt at a Regular Season spot will be both ends of the national team spectrum, from rising star Vanesa Jasa to veteran guard Ieva Pulvere. There will also be American duo Kyra Lambert and Dekeiya Cohen, plus Lithuanian Gabija Meskonyte.

Bethy Mununga returns to ACS Sepsi-SIC as a FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2023 champion

Romanian champions ACS Sepsi-SIC have been here before in the Qualifiers. More than once in fact, but they are still looking to make a maiden Regular Season. Perhaps this will be the time when they get to do it. Leading the way will be newly crowned FIBA Women's EuroBasket champ Bethy Mununga, Serbian forward Masa Jankovic, American Morgan Green and there are tickets back to the team for Livi Gereben and Borislava Hristova.

BC Polkowice (POL)  vs Besiktas JK (TUR)

Only one win away from reaching the Play-Offs last season, BC Polkowice must now earn the right to compete in the Regular Season, having done so more times than not during the last decade. They will feel they have the depth and quality to stamp their ticket after re-signing the likes of Zala Friskovec, Steph Mavunga, Weronika Gajda and Klaudia Gertchen. Their new recruits have big experience in Dragana Stankovic, Nika Baric and Brianna Fraser, with Charli Collier also looking for a strong first year.

Besiktas JK are ambitious but their EuroLeague Women legacy is brief, with just one season in 2008-09 to call upon. Also on paper at least, they might find depth an issue compared to their rivals. Having said that, they have a nice core with Jovana Nogic of the Serbia national team likely to provide plenty from the backcourt with Croatian Mihaela Lazic. If Tijana Krivacevic is available that will make a big difference, but they currently look like the underdogs and not helped by star signing of the summer Li Yueru being sidelined.

How do clubs in the Qualifiers fare if they make the Regular Season?

DVTK Hun-Therm impressed in their first Regular Season after making it past the Qualifiers

While it varies from season to season, two clubs from Qualifiers have made the Quarter-Finals in the last four seasons. In 2020-21, Spar Girona made the last eight of the competition, while Beretta Famila Schio matched the feat in the 2021-22 campaign. Last season saw both Spar Girona and DVTK Hun-Therm just miss out on the Quarter-Finals, finishing 7-7 and 6-8 respectively in their group.

What about the clubs that don't make it to the Regular Season?

The clubs who don't manage to punch their ticket to the EuroLeague Women Regular Season will instead be placed into the EuroCup Women Regular Season.

The draw for this competition can be found HERE with teams already provisionally placed.
