Game of the Week: Will Sopron Basket bounce back and are Dynamo Kursk Final Four candidates?

SOPRON (Hungary) - An exciting matchup is on the cards when Sopron Basket welcome Dynamo Kursk, with both teams having points to prove in this Game of the Week contest.

The Hungarian side were flying with three straight wins but the wheels came crashing off as they were heavily beaten last week by Fenerbahce Safiport. Head coach David Gaspar will be looking for his side to get back on track with a victory.

Meanwhile Dynamo Kursk are looking to move to an eye-catching 4-1 record and that would go some way to underline their potential as Final Four candidates again, having endured a couple of turbulent seasons since they last made it to the showpiece event.

The live broadcast of the game between Sopron Basket and Dynamo Kursk will be freely available on the EuroLeague Women YouTube channel, as well as on Facebook, at 18:00 CET on Tuesday, November 2.

Form guide: Sopron are 7-0 in the Hungarian League and had been 3-0 and looking imperious in EuroLeague Women until that setback last week at Fenerbahce Safiport. Dynamo Kursk are 6-0 in the Russian League and, just like their opponents, are heading into this game with a 3-1 record, their only defeat being a nail-biting loss at Basket Landes.

Last meeting: It was February 2020 when these teams last met and 23 points from Dynamo Kursk guard Epiphanny Prince propelled her team to a 74-61 triumph.

Bernadett Hatar will be looking to continue her impressive start to the new season

Key matchup: Sopron center Bernadett Hatar is having a brilliant double-double season so far and has been the go-to player for her team. She has racked up 14.5 points and 10 boards per game. She could get to go up against EuroLeague Women October MVP Eva Lisec, who has enjoyed a brilliant start to the season with 18.8 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.5 steals per game. Whoever wins this battle could go a long way to deciding the outcome.

X-factor: The quality of the Sopron defense is likely to be a big factor as Dynamo Kursk average a massive 15 points more per game and are the leading scorers in the competition. Sopron may look to engage a strategy to slow things down and that will mean controlling the boards to limit Kursk possessions.
