Fenerbahce Safiport finish 2021 in style; Beretta Famila Schio win overtime thriller

MUNICH (Germany) - Fenerbahce Safiport will head into 2022 with serious momentum after they racked up a fifth straight EuroLeague Women win on Tuesday night.

Facing the similarly in-form Spar Girona who had also won four in a row, Fenerbahce showed their teeth in a big way with a 78-57 Group B triumph that suggested their early season wobble is way back in the rear view mirror.

Improving to a 7-3 record heading into the winter break, the Istanbul side made their move with a 19-5 run either side of half-time. Elizabeth Williams dropped anchor again in the paint, coming up with 19 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists, while Satou Sabally was terrific with 16 points and 11 boards. Kayla McBride brought the backcourt noise with 16 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists.

Beretta Famila Schio made it a night to remember for their fans as they edged out Sopron Basket 72-71 in overtime after surviving a last-gasp shot attempt from Jelena Brooks which rimmed out.

Sandrine Gruda hit the deal-breaker with 10 seconds remaining and starred with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Diamond De Shields was also posted a double-double for Schio, of 16 points and 12 boards.

Dynamo Kursk are getting their season back on track as they won convincingly 75-57 against Basket Landes at home to improve to 6-4.

Natasha Howard proved too hot to handle for the visiting defense as she sunk 11 of 15 from the field on her way to 24 points and only fell short of a double-double by a solitary rebound. Marianna Tolo responded with 21 points in defeat for a Landes team that finds itself on a five-game losing skid.

Meanwhile in Group A, UMMC Ekaterinburg are already celebrating making the post season after moving to a perfect 10-0 record thanks to Monday's convincing 108-53 win against BLMA.

Second-placed  ZVVZ USK Praha are also looking to follow suit after they produced a powerful display to coast past the winless KSC Szekszard 89-51

Maria Conde fittingly signed off a super calendar year with another eye-catching display as she amassed 26 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists, with Brionna Jones weighing in with 19 points.

There was drama in Poland as VBW Arka Gdynia claimed a memorable 76-75 win against Galatasaray who slumped to a fourth successive defeat. In contrast,

Gdynia were able to breathe a sense of relief at banking only their second win as they watched the visitors miss the last shot of the game.

A go-ahead triple by Marissa Lee Kastanek inside the last 60 seconds proved vital and the game-winning basket, with 19 points and 9 rebounds from Megan Gustafson pacing the hosts. Tina Krajisnik responded with 22 points and 9 rebounds and 5 steals for Galatasaray.

Finally. TTT Riga had to work hard to see off MBA Moscow 68-61, but were left celebrating a fourth win of the season. A strong start to the contest gave them the platform for the win, as did their opponents struggling from behind the three-point line and going 4 of 25.

It was a good team effort from TTT as they dug out a precious victory, with Ieva Pulvere leading the way with a 20-point haul - also handing out 6 assists before fouling out.
