Schio scrape nervy home success, Nadezhda get it done on the road

MUNICH (Germany) - Schio and Nadezhda both got off the mark at the first attempt as their latest Regular Season campaigns got underway on Thursday night.

Famila Schio breathed a sigh of relief as they pipped Arka Gdynia 51-47 in a defensively dominated contest. The home fans celebrated seeing an early victory having endured a rotten start last year and while marquee summer signing Diamond DeShields couldn't find her shooting touch, veteran Sandrine Gruda came up with the big contribution.

The French ace accumulated 16 points and 7 rebounds, while Eva Lisec came up with a big clutch bucket inside the last minute to seal the deal for the hosts.

Nadezhda reacted to their recent SuperCup Women loss to UMMC by getting their Regular Season campign underway on a positive note.

They had too much in their locker for hosts Gelecek Koleji Cukurova as the visitors eased their way to a comfortable 69-53 win.

Canadian forward Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe came alive for Nadezhda and returned a monstrous double-double of 15 points and 17 rebounds, while Nia Coffey was the top player in defeat with 13 points and 14 rebounds

The two match-ups followed on from a busy opening night of the new season
