Landmark triumph for LDLC ASVEL Feminin and Fenerbahce fall to Sopron

MUNICH (Germany ) - There were two significant results on Thursday night as LDLC ASVEL Feminin registered a historic first ever EuroLeague Women win and Sopron shocked heavyweights Fenerbahce.

Having lost on their debut in the competition last week at Dynamo Kursk, there was no mistake from Lyon this time as they rode their way to a memorable 89-67 win against Spar Citylift Girona on home soil.

Marine Johannes impressed the home fans with 20 points and her French national team colleague Helena Ciak weighed in with 18 points and 7 rebounds.

It's now two wins from two for Sopron Basket as they dug out a nail-biting 62-60 victory against Fenerbahce Oznur Kablo who dropped their first game of the season.

The starting five certainly did the job for Sopron, who could only rely on a single point from the bench. Leading the way was backcourt duo Briann January and Zsofia Fegyverneky.

Critically, they looked after the ball brilliantly, with Sopron only spilling it seven times all night. January top-scored with 16 points and also had 4 assists and 3 steals, while Fegyverneky sunk 14 points and made a big clutch triple during crunch time.

The rest of the week's action took place 24 hours earlier, with three clubs taking their first wins of the season.
