BLMA pip Fenerbahce in thriller, Dynamo Kursk and UMMC back on track

MUNICH (Germany) - There were some important EuroLeague Women wins for several clubs on Wednesday night, including BLMA who ended the winning run of Fenerbahce Oznur Kablo in dramatic fashion.

The French side showed their teeth in a big way to take a pulsating 76-74 victory and deny the Istanbul heavyweights a fourth consecutive win.

As usual, it was Stephanie Mavunga who impressed, with the center proving a handful inside and finishing the contest with 15 points and 10 boards. Samantha Whitcomb also impressed by producing  21 points and 5 assists as BLMA executed impressively in crunch time to seal the deal.

Dynamo Kursk ended their recent run of losses by inflicting misery on Sopron Basket, who are also beginning to sink and find themselves in poor form after crashing 78-47. Nika Baric starred for Kursk with an all-action 15 points, 8 assists and 4 rebounds.

UMMC returned to winning ways after their shock loss to TTT Riga last week by crushing the visiting Bourges Basket 86-47 at the DIVS Arena. Ekaterinburg ran over their opponents off the back of an excellent Emma Meesseman showing, as the Belgian shot 80 percent from the field to top score with 16 points while adding 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals.

Castors Braine are celebrating consecutive EuroLeague Women wins for the first time in two years after Celeste Trahan-Davis inspired a super 90-59 success against Gelecek Koleji Cukurova.

She fired in 24 points and also added 16 rebounds for a stellar double-double, while Ukraine national team forward Olesia Malashenko also netted 24 points.

Having taken that famous victory in their previous game, TTT Riga were looking to pull off another surprise against Russian opposition against Nadezhda on the road. However, they fell short 69-61 and were undone by frontcourt duo of Albina Razheva and Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe, who combined for 30 points for the hosts.

Finally, the struggling Reyer Venezia were no match for the powerful ZVVZ USK Praha who romped their way to a 77-50 triumph, with Brionna Jones offering 16 points and 9 boards, while playmaker Cristina Ouvina was terrific in getting an eye -catching 14 rebounds.
