Super Sopron Basket shatter last flawless record, ZVVZ USK Praha move towards Play-Offs

MUNICH (Germany) - There was high drama in Kursk as hometown favorites Dynamo had their perfect run ended by a brave Sopron Basket, while ZVVZ USK Praha closed in on a ticket for the Play-Offs.

Sopron were facing a fourth straight loss in the fact when heading to Russia, but collected a pulsating 93-83 success against their previously 11-0 opponents. They also showed courage to come back from blowing a double-digit lead in the last 90 seconds of regulation and seeing Epiphanny Prince drain a triple to force overtime.

It was Yvonne Turner and Candice Dupree who helped the Hungarians stand firm and get back to winning ways. The former contributed a stunning double-double of 21 points and 10 assists, while Dupree shot the lights out and collected 24 points to go with her 8 rebounds. Prince netted 30 points in defeat.

"We played a very good game," stated Dupree afterwards,

"We were facing a team with an unbeaten record, so we were without any pressure. The last minutes of the fourth quarter were very difficult, but we stayed strong for overtime thanks to a great team effort."

ZVVZ USK Praha are on the verge of making the last eight after seeing off struggling Castors Braine 81-66 to jump towards a place in the post-season. As usual, Alyssa Thomas starred with a wonderful double-double of 22 points and 11 rebounds.

UMMC had already punched their ticket a couple of weeks ago but were determined to bounce back from a shock loss in the Czech capital during Week 11 and had to work hard to do so.

Bourges Basket made life difficult for the hosts, but UMMC eventually took a 70-65 success thanks mainly to 16 points and 12 rebounds from center Brittney Griner, as well as some impressive defensive work.

Perfumerias Avenida needed overtime and Krisi Givens hitting a personal season-high 25 points to eventually get past Carolo Basket 78-75 in another exhilarating matchup.

Victor Lapena will extend his first season with Nadezhda competing in European club competition after his side won 61-49 at ESBVA-LM to improve to 7-5. It means they will either make the Play-Offs or switch to the EuroCup Women Quarter-Finals.

That is where Famila Schio will be hoping to end up after they took their fourth win of the season. A stunning start put them on the path to an 83-69 triumph against CCC Polkowice,

Allie Quigley ended up making  5-of-6 from downtown for the Italians  for 19 points.

Finally, TTT Riga got back on a winning track as they stormed past Olympiacos 70-44 as Shey Peddy claimed 11 points and 11 assists.
