Quartet of clubs punch their tickets for the Play-Offs

MUNICH (Germany) - Another four clubs in the shape of Bourges Basket, Fenerbahce, TTT Riga, and ZVVZ USK Praha have safely navigated their way into the EuroLeague Women Play-Offs.

On their return to the competition this season, TTT Riga completed an eye-catching win double over Turkish giants Fenerbahce with a thrilling 62-61 road success in Istanbul.

Having beaten their rivals earlier in the campaign, they did it again off the back of 14 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists from Shey Peddy.

Fenerbahce still advanced despite the loss, due to their 8-4 record and after Dynamo Kursk put a dent in the hopes of Perfumerias Avenida with a 69-51 home victory. Sonja Petrovic impressed with a smart 16 points for Kursk, while Avenida will see their hopes ended altogether if Sopron win on Thursday night. Although they will at least play in the EuroCup Women Quarter-Finals if that happens.

Bourges Basket progressed to the Play-Offs after they won comfortably at home 83-55 against struggling Castors Braine.

It was young duo Alexia Chartereau with 20 points and Marine Johannes with 14 points and 9 assists who did the business at Le Prado.

ZVVZ USK Praha put on a powerful second-half show to make it to the last eight of the competition as they rolled past ESBVA-LM 84-68

It was the visitors' former star Valeriane Ayayi who starred for Praha with 21 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists.

CCC Polkowice improved their prospects of a place in the post-season by shutting down Nadezhda 59-55 on the road. They held the Russian side to just 6 points in the last period, with Styliani Kaltsidou terrific with 20 points and 6 rebounds.

"The game was tight with ups and downs, emotions and lots of energy," said Polkowice playcaller, Maros Kovacik afterwards.

"I'm extremely happy that we won the game, since it was tough mentally. We struggled in these past days with sicknesses and injuries, but these problems helped us to stay together as a team," he stressed.

The chances of Famila Schio lining up in the EuroCup Women Quarter-Finals decreased as they crashed 77-46 at defending champions UMMC - despite 16 points and 7 boards from a former Ekaterinburg star in Sandrine Gruda.

It was a Greek home favorite, Pinelopi Pavlopoulou who excelled and caught the eye with a smart shooting effort of 14 points, while Lykendra Johnson had a 10-point and 14-rebound double-double.
