Petrovic delivers near-perfect game to top Team of the Week

MUNICH (EuroLeague Women) – Sonja Petrovic demonstrated her class with a near-perfect performance on Wednesday to lead Dynamo Kursk past Carolo Basket and earn Top Performer honors in the process.

The Serbian international reminded everybody of why she was the Regular Season MVP last season by delivering 23 points on 8-of-9 shooting from the field, 11 rebounds and 3 assists for an efficiency of 34.

Dynamo Kursk rode her hot hand to an 83-62 win over the French newcomers to top the Group B standings with a 2-0 record. Elsewhere in the group, Perfumerias Avenida faced a tougher challenge to get off the mark, edging the visiting Fenerbahce 88-82 in an overtime thriller. One of the cornerstones of the success was the display of center Angelica Robinson, who posted a highly-efficient 17 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists.

Joining Robinson in the frontcourt is ZVVZ USK Praha's Alyssa Thomas, making the Top Performer lineup for the second straight week. The US forward is proving to be a perfect addition for Prague after helping her team to a perfect 2-0 start. In Thursday's 69-50 win at Famila Schio, Thomas finished with an all-round 19 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals.

The Team of the Week is completed in the backcourt by Sheylani Peddy and Kayla McBride. TTT Riga overcame their heartbreaking loss from the opening week with a remarkable win on the road against Hatay BB, 77-74, Peddy leading the way with 19 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assists.

McBride top-scored for UMMC with 20 points and added 7 assists and 4 rebounds to her name, as the reigning champions continued their title defense with a 69-54 triumph over CCC Polkowice.
