Paris starts season with a bang, headlines Team of the Week

MUNICH (EuroLeague Women) – Courtney Paris picked up where she left off last season by tipping off the 2018-19 campaign with a stunning double-double and Week 1 Top Performer honors.

Hatay capped off the first week of action with an 88-80 win over the visiting Perfumerias Avenida, with Paris leading the charge with 25 points on 12-of-13 shooting from the field, 10 rebounds, 3 assists and an efficiency rating of 36.

The forward spots on the Team of the Week are filled by two competition debutantes in Alyssa Thomas and Breanna Stewart.

Thomas did it all for ZVVZ USK Praha, as she played all 40 minutes to help her team to an 83-78 triumph at Nadezhda, stuffing the boxscore with 21 points, 15 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals.

Having collected MVP awards in the WNBA and the recent FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup, Stewart carried her fine form over to EuroLeague Women. Dynamo Kursk edged TTT Riga in a thriller, 70-69, Stewart leading the way with a 29-point and 11-rebound double-double.

The lineup is completed in the backcourt by Courtney Vandersloot and Queralt Casas. Vandersloot underlined her status as a premier point guard by orchestrating UMMC Ekaterinburg's opening win with 16 points and 9 assists, while Casas led Carolo Basket to a historic first EuroLeague Women win, delivering an all-round 18 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals.
