Roundup: Triple-double for Caglar, Derby joy for Famila Schio

MUNICH (EuroLeague/EuroCup Women) - Bahar Caglar produced one of the performances of her career in the Turkish League over the weekend, while Famila Schio soared in their derby against Reyer Venezia. 

Huge effort from Caglar and Hatay hop above Fenerbahce

Yakin Dogu Universitesi continue in pole position in Turkey - responding to last week's loss at Fenerbahce with a convincing 103-79 win against Ormanspor. Sandrine Gruda had 18 points and 13 rebounds,
but Bahar Caglar stole the show with a fabulous and rare triple-double of 14 points, 10 boards and 10 assists.


Hatay are heading towards glory in EuroCup Women having reached the Semi-Finals and are now eyeing up some domestic silverware too after beating Fenerbahce 77-72. The result means the
Antakya based side are now in second spot, with Hind Ben Abdelkader having erupted for 25 points.

Galatasaray may have hit the heights in reaching the Semi-Finals of EuroCup Women, but their domestic troubles re-surfaced as they were struck down 79-72 at Botas as Chelsea Gray amassed a
sparkling 26 points and 11 assists. Meanwhile Marica Gajic racked up a jaw-dropping 18 points and 19 boards as Mersin prevailed 65-70 at Besiktas.

Famila Schio storm to derby success against Reyer Venezia

Italian league leaders Famila Schio strengthened their grip on top spot after demolishing derby rivals and second-placed Reyer Venezia by 80-42.


It was Isabelle Yacoubou and Cecilia Zandalasini who proved a potent combination, with the French center claiming a double-double of 15 points and as many boards, while Zandalasini recorded a team-high 18 points.

Passalacqua Ragusa remain third after Dearica Hamby continued her productive campaign with 19 points and 14 rebounds in a 70-49 triumph at home to Napoli.

Upsets for ESBVA-LM and Basket Landes

There were unexpected losses in the French League for ESBVA-LM and Basket Landes over the weekend. ESBVA-LM were pipped 64-62 at Tarbes, while Landes were rocked 72-57 at Nantes Reze, who were inspired by 19 points from Lidija Turcinovic and an 18-point and 11-rebound double-double from Nayo Raincock Ekunwe.

Bourges Basket ran out 60-75 winners at Nice after Ruth Hamblin scored 17 points and there were some impressive highlights from K.B. Sharp, with the veteran guard having signed a contract extension last week. Meanwhile an 18-point haul from Sugar Rodgers helped BLMA slide past Saint-Amand 65-69 on their travels. 

Setback for CCC as four of the top five win in Poland

Only CCC Polkowice failed to win among the leading BLK teams in the Regular Season race for top spot as they were downed 83-73 at Energa Torun. Their opponents benefited from 18 points and 8 assists in just 14 minutes from Melisa Diawakana.

Wisla CANPACK rode out as 75-63 winners against Gorzow, with Spanish shooting guard Leonor Rodriguez exploding for 26 points. Artego Bydgoszcz had six players in double digits as they beat Soznowiec 91-77, with Kourtney Treffers landing 16 points and 11 rebounds for Sleza Wroclaw as they outpaced AZS-UMCS Lublin 52-65.

Elsewhere in Europe

Spar Citylift Girona bounced back from their EuroCup Women Quarter-Finals heartache with a 63-76 success in Liga Femenina at Cadi La Seu - paced by 19 points from Magali Mendy.


Leaders Perfumerias Avenida crushed Mann-Filter Zaragoza 71-37, with Angel Robinson adding 15 points and 9 boards.

In the Russian Premier League, Dynamo Kursk and UMMC both won in style. The former were victorious 72-101 at MBA Moscow as Elena Kirillova dropped 20 points. Ekaterinburg strode past Dynamo Moscow 101-49, as Evgenia Belyakova went 5-of-6 from downtown for 21 points.
