Roundup: Statement by Venezia, Lyon get thumbs up from Batum and circus move by Fegyverneky

MUNICH (EuroLeague/EuroCup Women) - Reyer Venezia are flying in Italy as well as EuroCup Women, Nicolas Batum has lauded Lyon for their big crowd and Zsofia Fegyverneky hits a jaw-dropping play.

They already have one foot in the EuroCup Women Quarter-Finals and Reyer Venezia have shown their power in the Italian League with a huge 80-61 win against another EuroCup Women Round of 8 participant, Passalacqua Ragusa. Marie Ruzickova continued her rich vein of form with 16 points and 8 rebounds.


Top-of-the-table Famila Schio moved past Gesam Gas Lucca 71-57 as Isabelle Yacoubou erupted 29 points. 

Batum praises big Lyon crowd
Almost 5,000 fans turned out to watch Lyon face Mondeville and while it didn't break the LFB Regular Season attendance record as hoped, the home side still got the thumbs up from Nicolas Batum for their 73-62 win, the number of supporters in the house and the atmosphere!


At the business end of the table, leaders Bourges Basket had Valeriane Ayayi with 20 points as they fended off Tarbes 71-58, with second place ESBVA-LM digging out a 57-52 win at fellow EuroLeague Women side BLMA. Laetitia Kamba led the way with 15 points and 7 rebounds.

Flammes Carolo Basket dodged a bullet at Saint-Amand as they snuck a dramatic 75-74 win after Clarissa Dos Santos continued her blistering campaign with a brilliant double-double of 21 points and 16 rebounds. Queralt Casas lit it up for Basket Landes with 19 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists as they strode past Nice 64-50.

Fegyverneky makes a magical move for Sopron
Sopron Basket are looking forward to the EuroLeague Women Quarter-Finals, but are also eyeing up re-capturing the Hungarian Championship. Their latest Regular Season triumph came courtesy of 20 points and 10 rebounds from Crystal Langhorne, as Sopron beat out CMB Cargo Uni Gyor 63-49.


There was also a stunning basket from Zsofia Fegyverneky.

Livia Gereben helped KSC Szekszard maintain their flawless record as they moved to 13-0, with the rising star plundering 16 points as her side won 83-53 at PINKK Pesci 424.

Wisla get dealt more domestic misery
After being blown away in the Polish Cup Final, Wisla CANPACK couldn't get back to winning ways on the home front after losing 77-72 at home to Energa Torun, who were propelled by 20 points from Aleix Hornbuckle.

There was joy for Gorzow as they pipped Basket 90 Gdynia 77-75 in a thriller as Paulina Misiek produced a fine 25 points and 11 rebounds. 


CCC Polkowice are on fire right now and raced past Sosnowiec 94-65 as Alysha Clark racked up 17 points and 9 rebounds. Elsewhere, Sleza Wroclaw outpaced Widzew Lodz 68-57, while Julie McBride handed out 13 assists for Artego Bydgosccz as they saw off TS Ostrovia Ostrow 85-66.

Top teams rampant in Turkey
The powerhouse clubs in the Turkish League all powered their way to convincing wins over the weekend, not least leaders Yakin Dogu Universitesi who swept aside Samsun 90-40, with Olcay Cakir Turgut dishing up 11 assists. Fenerbahce overwhelmed Bornova Beckerspor 102-55 with Pelin Bligic and Kelsey Plum netting 24 and 23 points respectively. 


Bria Hartley turned up the heat for Mersin with 21 points and 9 assists in an 84-77 home victory against Ormanspor. Belarus national team leader Katsiaryna Snytsin also dropped 21 points as Hatay eased out Cukurova 67-56. Galatasaray jumped past Istanbul Universitesi 87-75 after a contribution of 24 points from Kaela Davis and Bernice Mosby had 20 points and 12 assists for Besiktas in a one-sided 79-56 win against Agu Spor.

Elsewhere in Europe
UMMC won 76-53 at Kazanochka in the Russian Premier League as Brittney Griner sunk 15 points, while Nadezhda benefited from 20 points by Alex Bentley in a 70-55 home triumph against Dynamo Moscow.


It wasn't only in Lyon where the fans came out in big numbers, with a record crowd at Birmingham watching the Women's British Basketball League Cup Final - won by Nottingham Wildcats 70-66 against Caledonia Pride.

Finally, after a long trip back from Nadezhda in EuroLeague Women last week, Perfumerias Avenida felt the pace in Liga Femenina and were only just able to scramble past Cadi La Seu 75-71, off the back of 19 points from Angelica Robinson. Second-placed Spar Citylift Girona won 90-68 at Star Center Uni Ferrol, with 19 points from Astou Traore.
