History for Yakin Dogu Universitesi as curtain is raised on Regular Season
ISTANBUL (EuroLeague Women) - Yakin Dogu Universitesi stole the headlines on opening night of the EuroLeague Women Regular Season after taking their maiden win in the competition with their first attempt.
It wasn't easy as they had to come from behind to eventually outlast a hard-nosed Famila Schio side, 67-64, with Kayla McBride scoring 20 points and hitting the dagger triple down the stretch. There was also a big performance on the glass from Quanitra Hollingsworth, who had a priceless 16 boards and 3 blocked shots.
With new signing Dewanna Bonner not ready to suit up for ZVVZ USK Prague, the home fans might have been concerned ahead of their match-up with Tango Bourges Basket. However, Marta Xargay stepped up with 19 points and 7 assists, as well as the pivotal play, to facilitate a 64-61 success.
