Clark, Jones shine in shared glory

MUNICH (EuroLeague Women) - Top Performer honors have been shared for a second week running, this time between Alysha Clark and Brionna Jones.

MUNICH (EuroLeague Women) - Top Performer honors have been shared for a second week running, this time between Alysha Clark and Brionna Jones.

In the penultimate week of Regular Season action, Jones still had plenty to play for, despite Nadezhda already being out of the race for the Quarter-Finals, with her club's attentions instead turning to securing a EuroCup Women Quarter-Final berth. Thanks to Jones' contribution of 21 points and 8 rebounds - good enough for an efficiency of 30 - the Russian club were able to go someway to achieve the EuroCup Women goal, with an 89-78 win over Perfumerias Avenida.

For Clark, hopes of continuing the European journey beyond next week have faded, but that does not mean CCC Polkowice will not do all within their power to bow out on a high. Part one of that was achieved on Wednesday night, when they effectively ended the EuroCup Women Quarter-Final ambitions of Castors Braine, with an 80-66 victory, to which Clark contributed 28 points and 7 rebounds, also good for the 30 mark in efficiency.

Next up in this week's Top Performers' team is former Nadezhda player Natalya Zhedik, who is now plying her trade for the unbeaten Dynamo Kursk. In another runaway victory for the unstoppable Russian juggernauts, Zhedik recorded a 15-point, 10-assist double-double in a 92-67 road victory over Galatasaray.

Despite being on losing teams this week, there were still spots in the Top Performers' lineup for Fenerbahce's Anastasiya Verameyenka and ZVVZ USK Praha's Marta Xargay. The former had a 19-point, 10-rebound double-double as her team suffered a 76-65 loss to cross-town rivals Yakin Dogu Universitesi; whilst the latter came up with 21 points and 5 rebounds as the club from the Czech capital fell 77-61 to the visiting Sopron.
