Drama as WBC Enisey and Flammes wrap up Play-Off Round 1 places

MUNICH (Germany) - Two more clubs have extended their stay in EuroCup Women, as WBC Enisey and Flammes both dug out the wins they needed on the penultimate night of the Regular Season.

Enisey were the first to progress and did so in dramatic fashion against the previously unbeaten Polkowice, as they made their way to a memorable 70-68 victory.

Jaime Nared was a difference-maker with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Stephanie Mavunga added 17 points and 17 rebounds in defeat.

Meanwhile Flammes held their nerve to scrape past Lointek Gernika 58-56 on the road, led by 16 points from Nia Coffey. There was also a decisive three-pointer from Magali Mendy down the stretch that was instrumental in tipping the balance in favor of the visitors.

Uni Gyor took a second win to improve their position in Group B as they outlasted ACS Sepsi SIC 73-69 as Beatrice Monpremier produced her best display of the season with 18 points and a stellar 27 rebounds. Brianna Fraser responded with 27 points for Sepsi.

Nesibe Aydin showed why they took top spot in Group D by beating NKA Universitas PEAC 96-62 behind 26 points from Katsiaryna Snytsina.

In Group E, KKZ Crvena Zvezda were almost shocked by the winless Polskieprzetwory Bydgoszcz but kept their hopes of progressing alive with a 73-69 victory as they relied on 20 points from Masa Jankovic. Olympiacos SFP handed Nadezhda the first loss as the Greek team celebrated an exciting 84-81 win. Latvian ace Kristine Vitola recorded 21 points and 9 rebounds.

Tango Bourges soared past Banco Sardegna Sassari 118-67 in Group G, fueled by an outstanding 23-point shooting effort from Iliana Rupert.

Virtus Segafredo Bologna can no longer qualify, but a 67-63 Group H win at BC Roche Vendee did help them finish the season on a high note. A one-two punch did the trick, with Ivana Dojkic pouring in 24 points and Brianna Turner harvesting 17 points and 15 boards.

LDLC ASVEL Feminin continued their good form in Group J as they strolled past Liege Panthers 89-31, as Sara Chevaugeon netted 18 points. Both MBK Ruzomberok and Movistar Estudiantes had also previously secured their places in the next phase and it was the latter who won convincingly 85-53 on Slovakian soil. Nadia Fingall had 21 points and 9 boards, with Arica Carter top scoring with 25 points.

Castors Braine potentially denied London Lions a historic spot with the British club needing to now wait and see after they were beaten 70-67 in Group K by the Belgians - despite 25 points from veteran Johannah Leedham.

KP Brno doubled their tally of victories with a second win in Group L as they eased out Icelandic side Haukar 60-53 with Natalie Kucowski starring after landing 16 points and 12 rebounds. Villeneuve d'Ascq LM  took down Tarbes GB 86-51 in the same pool.
