Clean sweep for French sextet, statement win for BC Prometey

MUNICH (Germany) - It was a positive EuroCup Women night for French basketball as all six of its representatives claimed victories, while the ambitious BC Prometey flew the flag in a big way for Ukraine.

LDLC ASVEL Feminin took a much-needed victory in the wake of their rough start to the campaign as they had little difficulty in gliding past MBK Ruzomberok 81-50. Both Aleksandra Crvendakic and Alexia Chartereau came up with 13 points and 6 rebounds.

Tarbes GB rolled their way to a 66-53 home win against Haukar of Iceland with Clementine Samson having a career night in the tournament with 25 points and 6 assists. Roche Vendee claimed a nice 90-78 road win in Spain at Lointek Gernika as Ornella Bankole went off for 29 points.

Tango Bourges sailed past BCF Elfic Fribourg 102-49 with young center Iliana Rupert reminding everyone of her talent by scoring 21 points. Villeneuve D'Ascq LM were too good for KP Brno as they prevailed 82-42, helped by a huge 30-13 last quarter and 18 points from Kariata Diaby.

The optimism around Virtus Segafredo Bologna on the eve of the new season may be evaporating after they were rolled over in a big way 84-46 by Flammes, who lived up to their name bu lighting it up once again. Bologna had no answer to brilliant Nigerian standout Evelyn Akhator who compiled a momentous 22 points and 16 rebounds.

Meanwhile BC Prometey of Ukraine made another sizable statement of their intent after smashing their way past Uni Gyor 117-83 on the road. Olga Dubrovina showed out in a big way with a brilliant 32 points and 9 assists, while Joyner Holmes and Nikolina Babic chipped in with 25 points and 23 points respectively.

Elsewhere, Movistar Estudiantes maintained their winning start to the season by moving to 2-0 after beating Liege Panthers 66-55 and like in their first outing, it was Laura Quevedo who came alive in the game, this time scoring 17 points.

You could have forgiven Valencia BC for having had one eye on Friday's SuperCup Women Final against UMMC, but that was far from the case as they powered their way to a huge 95-45 success against Basket Namur as six different players posted double-digits in points, with Marie Guelich leading the scoring with 15 points.

Slovakian veteran Anna Jurcenkova went to work for Zabiny Brno as they won 82-74 in the British capital at London Lions. The centre claimed a fine 17-point and 13-rebound double-double while Holly Winterburn scored 21 points in defeat.

Finally, there was more agony for Rutronik Stars Keltern as they suffered another close defeat. They were edged out 61-59 at Castors Braine, despite 22 points from Breanna Richardson. It was Aislinn Konig who made the game-winning shot with a big triple in the closing stages.
