Last tickets for the Round of 16 taken as Regular Season concludes

MUNICH (Germany) - There was excitement and drama on the last day of the EuroCup Women Regular Season as the last available Round of 16 spots were filled.

With Saint-Amand Hainaut Basket, Valencia Basket and Ramla having already snapped up tickets, there were plenty of clubs looking to follow them into the next phase.

Another scintillating performance from Zala Friskovec was at the heart of KSC Szekszard making it three wins and topping Group A as the Slovenian illuminated a 75-67 win against Uni Gyor. The shooting guard went 8-of-9 from the field for 21 points, with Erica McCall amassing  a similarly impressive 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Bellona Kayseri Basketbol moved into the Round of 16 after beating  BC Prometey 106-82 as Tyasha Harris produced the highest score of the hub with 35 points and also handed out a scorching 10 assists.

Aluinvent DVTK Miskolc joined Ramla from Group B in progressing after Keyona Hayes erupted for a stellar 34 points and 19 rebounds in a 93-82 win against Orman Genclik. 

Sparta&K M.R. Vidnoje were outlasted 77-72 by Hatay, but still finished top of Group C, with their Turkish conquerors missing out on the Round of 16 in a three-way tie.  It was VBW CEKK Cegled who took second place, courtesy of a 72-52 win against Adana Basketbol that was facilitated by an extraordinary 32 points and 16 rebounds from Tinara Moore.


Elazig Il Ozel Idare are yet to lose in what is their rookie EuroCup Women season and they advanced unbeaten after seeing off KP Brno 73-61 to top Group D. There were good shows again from Emma Cannon who collected 28 points and 13 rebounds, plus Jelena Dubljevic with 10 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists.

There was relief for InvestInTheWest Gorzow who will go through with Elazig after their 97-76 win against MBA Moscow helped them prevail in  three-way tie in the group.  Borislava Hristova exploded with 31 points, with Megan Gustafson again unstoppable with 28 points and 14 rebounds.

Reyer Venezia never missed a beat in taking top spot in Group E after having little difficulty in seeing off Landerneau Bretagne Basket 86-62.  Serbia national team guard Yvonne Anderson fired a team high 17 points.

There was joy for Swiss side BCF Elfic Fribourg Basket as they also moved beyond the Regular Season by beating Phantoms Basket Boom 99-59 thanks to a one-two punch of 26 points and 12 rebounds from Marielle Giroud, plus 17 points and 11 boards from Taylor Koenen.

Carolo Basket moved into the next stage after a convincing 79-66 victory against fellow French side La Roche Vendee Basket in Group F. It was Nigeria national team center Evelyn Akhator who proved a difference-maker with 18 points. Lointek Gernika Bizkaia are also through, despite losing narrowly 61-60 to domestic rivals Tenerife. 

ACS Sepsi-Sic topped Group G after clinching a hard-fought 57-50 against Cadi La Seu with Rebekah Gardner leading the way in adding 17 points and 8 rebounds. They will be joined by ESBVA-LM who dominated Namur 75-45 as Haley Peters registered 21 points and 7 boards.
