Everything you need to know about the EuroCup Women Regular Season

MUNICH (Germany) - We're ready to touch down for the first ever EuroCup Women hub experience with the start of what promises to be an intense and action-packed Regular Season.

The top two clubs from each of the eight groups, based in seven different locations around the continent, will advance to the post-season, with all subsequent phases of the competition also set to be organized in hubs.

The Round of 16 and Quarter-Final fixtures will be played across four hubs, as per the Play-Off bracket, from March 16-18 and the season will conclude with a Final Four from April 9-11.

You can find the full game schedule here.

Group A - Gyor, HUN

Agnes Studer - KSC Szekszard

One To Watch

KSC Szekszard (HUN): Hungary's naturalized center Cyesha Goree will need to be a towering presence in the paint for Szekszard to progress and make a deep run in this tournament.
Uni Gyor (HUN):  This competition has seen many excellent young players over the years and  teenager Reka Dombai is one to keep an eye on. She is pushing hard to become a mainstay of the senior Hungary team now.
Bellona Kayseri Basketbol (TUR): Tyasha Harris is following up her rookie WNBA season with a nice first campaign overseas.
BC Prometey (UKR): Much will hinge on the productivity of American duo Bernice Mosby and KeShunan James.

Key Question

KSC Szekszard (HUN): They always seem to make a run past the Regular Season but fall short of the last four, so is this new format going to help them or prevent them making progress?
Uni Gyor (HUN): EuroLeague Women legend Dalma Ivanyi has presided over their best start to a Hungarian League season for years, so can they transfer that great work and momentum into EuroCup Women?
Bellona Kayseri Basketbol (TUR): With 12 losses already domestically, can they use this tournament to forget the KBSL worries?
BC Prometey (UKR): Is their participation more about more than the club itself and even more important for the Ukraine national team and the country's basketball mood and profile in general?

Group B - Ankara, TUR

Dora Medgyessy - Aluinvent DVTK Miskolc

One To Watch

Aluinvent DVTK Miskolc (HUN): Still only 19-years-old, center Angelika Kiss is stepping up nicely this season and taking the opportunity of more minutes to impress.
Orman Genclik (TUR): The powerful Angel Robinson has been playing some of the best basketball of her career this season with some typically impressive displays that have garnered a season double-double in the Turkish League.
Ramla (ISR):  There are few bigger names in the competition this season than WNBA and EuroLeague Women veteran DeWanna Bonner!

Key Question

Aluinvent DVTK Miskolc (HUN): Will they put their EuroLeague Women Qualifier disappointment behind them - and also an inconsistent domestic season?
Orman Genclik (TUR): Averaging almost 83 points per game in the KBSL, there are few worries offensively for Orman Genclik, but can they step up their defensive efforts to really make a difference?
Ramla (ISR): With a standout baller to lead their charge in Bonner, can they take a top two spot in what looks to be a balanced group on paper?

Group C - Hatay, TUR

Hind Ben Abdelkader - Hatay BB

One To Watch

Hatay BB (TUR): All eyes will be on the reigning FIBA Women's EuroBasket MVP, Astou Ndour, but the dynamic Belgian guard Hind Ben Abdelkader will also be vital.
Sparta&K M.R. Vidnoje (RUS): Playmaker Ksenia Levchenko is posting the best season of her career in the Russian PBL.
VBW CEKK Cegled (HUN): Spanish guard Mariona Ortiz is clearly enjoying her basketball and been excelling across multiple stats categories in the Hungarian League.
Adana Basketbol (TUR): Lithuanian forward Gabija Meskonyte started the season slowly but has caught fire and become a major contributor.

Key Question

Hatay BB (TUR): Can any of the Turkish supporting cast step up consistently to support the import headliners?
Sparta&K M.R. Vidnoje (RUS): Sparta&K have not been great on the glass domestically, so can they step it up on the boards?
VBW CEKK Cegled (HUN): Do Cegled have sufficient depth in their rotation to handle the intensity of the hub?
Adana Basketbol (TUR): Only averaging 67 points per game in a poor domestic season which has seen them win only two of 15 games, will they have enough offense to take a top two spot?

Group D - Brno, CZE

Emily Potter - KP Brno

One To Watch

MBA Moscow (RUS): Center Alexandra Tarasova is having the best season of her career so far in the Russian League.
InvestInTheWest ENEA Gorzow (POL): Megan Gustafson will make her debut in the competition and that is exciting as the Dallas Wings forward has been in great form - as was the case with Csata in 2019-20 during her rookie pro-season overseas.
KP Brno (CZE): Canadian frontcourt rock Emily Potter provides a solid base that Brno can build their game around.
Elazig Il Ozel Idare (TUR): It will be great to see Montenegrin ace and long-time top level performer Jelena Dubljevic back playing in European club competition again.

Key Question

MBA Moscow (RUS):  Can MBA continue to make strides after some impressive wins in past seasons, but do they have a clutch performer to get the job done in crunch time?
InvestInTheWest ENEA Gorzow (POL): Has the recent addition of a second WNBA performer in Shatori Walker-Kimbrough given them the boost needed to take a top two spot?
KP Brno (CZE): Can they limit the number of turnovers against better quality opposition as they already spill the ball almost 18 times per game in the Czech League?
Elazig Il Ozel Idare (TUR):  Could the ambitious Elazig be  dark horses with a roster that includes some top quality players like Emma Cannon, Kelsey Mitchell, Nika Baric as well as Dubljevic - or does their inconsistent domestic form signal they aren't?

Group E - Landerneau, FRA

Marielle Giroud - BCF Elfic Fribourg

One To Watch

BCF Elfic Fribourg Basket (SUI): The experienced Swiss national team leader Marielle Giroud will again be priceless after the frontcourt start almost landed a EuroCup Women double-double season in 2019-20.
Phantoms Basket Boom (BEL): Teenage guard Sam Van Buggenhaut is a young talent worth keeping an eye on as she may be looking to transition to the senior Belgian team in coming years.
Reyer Venezia (ITA): Great Britain standout Temi Fagbenle is always someone worth watching as she goes to work inside.
Landerneau Bretagne Basket (FRA): Germany national team rising star Luisa Geiselsoder is having a solid season in her first campaign outside of her homeland. The forward was WNBA drafted last year and showing why.

Key Question

BCF Elfic Fribourg Basket (SUI): Can they impress like last season when they won three games and took the considerable scalp of BC Roche Vendee of France?
Phantoms Basket Boom (BEL): Can they defy the concerns of a poor domestic form that has harvested just one win all season?
Reyer Venezia (ITA): Flying high at the top of the Italian League, will Reyer Venezia prove their status as a EuroCup Women frontrunner?
Landerneau Bretagne Basket (FRA): Opportunity knocks for the debutantes and the next phase beckons - but will they avoid slip-ups against Fribourg and Phantoms Basket?

Group F - Valencia, ESP

Amel Bouderra - Carolo Basket

One To Watch

Lointek Gernika Bizkaia (ESP): Nogaye Lo will be eager to impress under the basket to see if she can stay in contention for the Spanish national team ahead of the FIBA Women's EuroBasket this summer and maybe even the Olympics.
Tenerife (ESP): Most things roll through the do-it-all Tanaya Atkinson and she will need to really light it up.
Carolo Basket (FRA): Nigeria national team star Evelyn Akhator remains a powerhouse inside, who is such a handful for her opponents, while the experienced Amel Bouderra will orchestrate affairs expertly from the backcourt.
La Roche Vendee Basket (FRA): You have got to love it when a player has been at the same club all their career so look out for homegrown guard Carolina Heriaud who averages more than 30 minutes per game in the LFB. She is also a nice 3x3 baller too.

Key Question

Lointek Gernika Bizkaia (ESP): With only one player averaging a double-digit scoring return domestically, do they have enough firepower to compete in this challenging group?
Tenerife (ESP): How much will they miss the departed Kalis Loyd and have 2021 arrivals Farhiya Abdi and Hungary captain Krisztina Raksanyi had enough time to integrate into this deep rotation?
Carolo Basket (FRA): With ambitions to push hard for silverware in the LFB, do they have the depth and mental fortitude to complete on all fronts and show their quality in this bubble format?
La Roche Vendee Basket (FRA): On paper they looked capable of at least matching their rookie exploits of 2019-20, but can they cope with the departure of Eva Lisec to Dynamo Kursk and the large void they have to fill?

Group G - Sfantu Gheorghe, ROU

Rebecca Tobin - ACS Sepsi-Sic

One To Watch

ESBVA-LM (FRA):  Spanish veteran playmaker Sandra Ygueravide will pull the strings and her experience will be important.
Namur (BEL): Courtney Range showed her teeth with an excellent show in the Qualifiers and she will be essential again.
ACS Sepsi Sic (ROU): In this case two to watch, since Rebecca Tobin and Montenegro national team guard Jovana Pasic are shooting the lights out domestically at an eye-bulging 66 and 64 percent from the field respectively!
Cadi La Seu (ESP): Canadian center Quinn Urbaniak Dornstauder has been the one player who has really found some nice consistency so far for the Spanish side.

Key Question

ESBVA-LM (FRA): Can they avoid injuries and use their solid first half the season in the French League as a foundation to relive former glories?
Namur (BEL): Will the hugely disrupted Belgian League season mean Namur are  too undercooked for the intensity of the hub?
ACS Sepsi Sic (ROU): Will home advantage be vital and having seen their biggest dream shattered in the EuroLeague Women Qualifiers, can they now at least make their deepest ever run in this competition as compensation?
Cadi La Seu (ESP): It was quite a first season last year as they posted a  nice rookie campaign, but can they punch similarly hard in this revised format? Especially when they are struggling 8-12 in the Spanish League.

Group H - Valencia, ESP

Queralt Casas - Valencia Baskt Club SAD

One To Watch

Valencia Basket Club SAD (ESP: Celeste Trahan-Davis has shown that she can accumulate double-doubles in EuroLeague Women and has already been killing it in the Spanish League, while the energy of Queralt Casas will be crucial too.
Saint-Amand Hainaut Basket (FRA): Jasmine Bailey has been a rare ray of sunshine in a turbulent season so far.
Castors Braine (BEL): Bosnia and Herzegovina talent Melisa Brcaninovic has been trying to find a place that she can impress and looks settled in Belgium. She offers explosive firepower when she finds her shooting rhythm.
Basket Hema SKW (BEL): Billie Massey has broken into the Belgian Cats side and impressed in last November's FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2021 Qualifiers, having also excelled last season in this competition. She will be  the centerpiece of for SKW.

Key Question

Valencia Basket Club SAD (ESP): With home advantage, a stacked roster and good domestic form in Liga Femenina, will the ambitious Valencia be able to show why they are being tipped as potential champions?
Saint-Amand Hainaut Basket (FRA):  After emerging from the Qualifiers, can they forget their disastrous domestic form which sees them at the bottom of the LFB table? This could be their last dance  for a while if relegation to LF2 looks more likely.
Castors Braine (BEL): It has been EuroLeague Women participation in many of the previous seasons, so can they prove the assumption that they they can be a power in this competition?
Basket Hema SKW (BEL): This young team have priceless experience of the competition under their belts and a year on, can they show they have made progress both individually and collectively?
