Rising stars ready to make a splash in the Regular Season

MUNICH (Germany) - Famed for the number of rising stars who have previously used the competition as a major platform to showcase their talents, EuroCup Women will have another tranche of aspiring ballers in it this season.

We've selected a handful of those who will be looking to make a splash in 2019-20:

Reka Dombai - Uni Gyor Mely-UT

One of the leading players of her generation globally, not just in Europe, Dombai has been sensational in a Hungary vest. She has featured at the FIBA U17 and FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World Cups, also gaining All-Star Five honors at the European level with her country. Last season she killed it in the highly competitive Hungarian League with Vasas and has since made a big move to Gyor. She can certainly  score - as was evidenced by her being one of the leading offensive players domestically last season. Now she can embrace her first EuroCup Women season and it is a challenge you would expect her to meet.

Billie Massey – Basket Hema SKW

Simply devastating for Belgium at the FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World Cup 2019 where she was unstoppable at times, she deservedly finished on the All-Star Five at the event. No stranger to such accolades, Massey played last year in EuroCup Women and can only be even better this time around. It feels like this is the year for her to try to make that solid jump up to the Belgian Cats for good. More strong showings in EuroCup Women can only help and she will be a leader for her team despite her tender age - expecting to score consistently, crash the glass and swat plenty of shots.

Kendra Chery - Roche Vendee Basket Club

The athletic Chery dipped her toe into EuroCup Women waters during 2018-19 with Lyon but has since made the summer switch to the aspiring Roche Vendee. While exciting things are happening at her former club, court time might have been tough to come by. But now the teenager can be expected to be a major figure with her new team and will have genuinely big responsibilities to handle. While some question marks remain about her offensive firepower, her physical attributes are big upsides and on defense, she will continue to improve. She will also play alongside another French player who could have easily made the list in the shape of the excellent guard, Oceane Monpierre.

Petra Pusztai - DVTK

The 20-year-old is poised to maker her EuroCup Women debut, having already featured in the EuroLeague Women Qualifiers of late for DVTK. She is a player who has made clear strides in the last couple of years and might not always amass big numbers, but has grown well and contributes in many different facets. Her previous seasons in the Hungarian League with ZTE Noi Kosarlabda resulted in Miskolc swooping for her services. She showed what she could do as a leader for the national team at the FIBA U20 Women's European Championship during this past summer. She must now work hard to earn good minutes, but we would back her to continue on an upward trajectory.

Janelle Salaun - Carolo Basket

Another player who must now battle to gain minutes at what is looking like a stacked Carolo Basket roster, that will not deter Salaun. It's an exciting time, since it is her first pro-season, having honed her skills at the Centre Federale with the Federation. This also now means a rookie EuroCup Women campaign too and just being alongside so many super team-mates with big game experience will mean she will learn more and more each day. Salaun will need to show patience and a strong mentality. It may be a learning curve. But  if her contributions in a French jersey are anything to go by, she can be a success - even if it takes a little longer than others on our list.
