History for Herner and Valencia, big numbers posted on landmark night

MUNICH (Germany) - Some sensational individual production lit up EuroCup Women on Thursday night, while Herner TC and Valencia Basket Club SAD and made it a special date to remember.

There were no more poignant celebrations than those in the locker rooms of Valencia and Herner. The former recorded their maiden win at the first time of asking and were rampant 77-61 at CEKK Cegled, with Julia Reisingerova back from injury to harvest 18 points and 9 rebounds. 

"We are very happy because of the first victory," added Spanish national team guard, Queralt Casas.

"At first we were nervous and it was more difficult, but then we improved and we had a great defensive level. All of us helped on offense, and we shared the ball." she added.

Herner picked up their first ever success on their debut outing as they had the extra sweet experience of doing it at domestic rivals Rutronik Stars Keltern. Jordan Dale Frericks was key to a 79-65 win after coming up with 14 points and 13 rebounds.

Kahleah Copper set the highest score of the season so far after pouring in 33 points for Gorzow as they smashed their way past KP Brno 93-57, with the forward hauling down 11 boards to complete a double-double.


Meanwhile Brianna Kiesel hit a high with 14 assists for Artego Bydgoszcz and they also really needed a big 17 points and 18 rebounds from Lithuanian Laura Miskiniene in a nerve-shredding 72-67 win against ACS Sepsi as a late collapse almost cost them dearly.

There was a stunning 109-65 win for Ormanspor at A3 Basket Umea as Courtney Paris starred with 18 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists, in a game that also witnessed Arike Ogunbowale debut with a 28-point haul.

Meanwhile FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2019 All-Star Five member Temi Fagbenle showed her teeth as usual, with the Great Britain center inspiring Botas to a 91-64 success against Ramla with an excellent shooting night for 21 points, as well as 12 rebounds.

Elsewhere, there were also wins for Hatay, Sparta&K M.R. Vidnoje, BC Elfic Fribourg and Perfumerias Avenida, with the remainder of the first week's Regular Season games having taken place on Wednesday night.
