Remaining trio jump into the last four after exciting Quarter-Finals clashes

MUNICH (Germany) - The EuroCup Women 2019 Semi-Finals are set after Famila Schio, Spar Citylift Girona and Nadezhda all got the results they needed to advance.

A triumphant Famila Schio edged out Cukurova Basketbol 81-73 on the road and moved a step closer to salvaging a season that had started so desperately. They had also been on the back foot in the tie as well - blowing a big lead in the first leg and suffering a four-point loss on their own floor.

But, this time they built up a lead and hung on, to claim the most precious of victories in what proved to be another absorbing contest.

Allie Quigley, a reigning EuroCup Women champion, proved to be a deal-breaker as she came up clutch with some huge triples down the stretch for her team. She eventually corralled 18 points, while fellow WNBA star Jantel Lavender was sensational with 22 points from a 73 percent shooting performance. Alina Iagupova fired 25 points in defeat.

A relieved Schio coach, Pierre Vincent commented: "I'm so proud of my team. We played a great game and were focused for 40 minutes which was missed at our home game.

"We kept our strong defense and that's been a key factor of the game against a strong team," added the playcaller.

Schio will go up against a fellow EuroLeague Women Regular Season competitor in the shape of Nadezhda, who won in impressive fashion 75-60 at Perfumerias Avenida.

Carrying an eight-point lead from Game 1 in Orenburg, the wheels briefly came crashing off as Nadezhda fell behind by as many as 16 points at Pabellon Wurzburg.

But, inspired by a brilliant 19-point and 14-rebound double-double from Brionna Jones, they recovered to take a famous victory.

There was history for Spar Citylift Girona as they entered the Semi-Finals for the first time. They carried an emphatic lead from their first-leg matchup at Lyon ASVEL Feminin and made no mistake as they collected a 61-54 success in the second meeting.

Gabby Williams impressed with 16 points and 7 rebounds, while veteran Laia Palau rolled back the years with 8 assists.

Girona will play against BLMA in the last four of the competition, with the French side having already punched their ticket for the last four on Wednesday night.
