Roundup: Regular Season title for KSC Szekszard, winning start for Garnier at Fenerbahce

MUNICH (EuroLeague/EuroCup Women) – Fresh from their Hungarian Cup success, KSC Szekszard wrapped up the Regular Season title over the weekend and there was a positive start for Valerie Garnier at Fenerbahce.

Success still continuing for KSC Szekszard

There is no stopping KSC Szekszard after the reigning Hungarian champions followed up their recent Cup triumph over Sopron by pipping their arch rivals to the Regular Season title.


Finishing on the same points, Szekszard had the head-to-head and made no mistake in getting the win they needed against PEAC-Pecs. The visitors claimed a 67-74 victory, with Erica McCall claiming a double-double of 16 points and 12 boards, while Teja Oblak netted a team-high 18 points. Meanwhile 14 points and 13 boards by Tina Jovanovic fueled Sopron's 58-86 road win at Vasas.

Garnier gets off the mark at first attempt with Fenerbahce

New Fenerbahce head coach Valerie Garnier could barely have asked for a more comfortable first matchup than a home game against struggling Samsun.

The French national team boss watched her team dominate 76-51 as Anastasiya Verameyenka stood out with 12 points and 14 rebounds.

City rivals Galatasaray cruised past Agu Spor 86-58 thanks mainly to 28 points and 10 rebounds from Gintare Petronyte, plus 14 points and 10 assists from Isil Alben. There was a derby win for Yakin Dogu Universitesi as they took down Istanbul Universitesi 42-98, with Jantel Lavender going 10-of-13 from the field for 21 points and Sandrine Gruda harvesting 18 points and 13 boards.

The first game of the Quarter-Finals of the Russian Premier League are in the books, with no upsets being recorded as EuroLeague Women trio UMMC, Dynamo Kursk and Nadezhda all got off to a winning start on their travels.

Emma Meesseman sunk 20 points to pace UMMC past Inventa Kursk 55-84, while Dynamo Kursk stormed to a 51-96 triumph at MBA Moscow as Sonja Petrovic led the way with 16 points. Emma Cannon fired 20 points as Nadezhda outclassed Kazanochka 60-90, while a quartet of road wins was sealed by Enisey Krasnoyarsk as they prevailed 70-75 at Sparta&K.

Carolo Basket enjoy derby win in LFB

There were smiles after the derby against ESBVA-LM for fans of Carolo Basket as they won 55-63 after an important contribution of 19 points from Kaleena Lewis.

There was a super display from Courtney Hurt as her 23 points and 12 boards carried BLMA past Nice 79-59, while Bourges locked down Lyon 41-63 as Valeriane Ayayi continued her good form with 18 points.

Elsewhere in Europe

There was a surprise in Israel as fourth seeds Elitzur Ramla beat Regular Season winners Maccabi Ramat Hen in their Semi-Finals decider 101-89.


Israel national team star Naama Shafir added 23 points and 9 assists to set up a Championship Finals series against Maccabi Ashdod.

The Liga Feminina Regular Season is now complete, with winners Perfumerias Avenida registering an eye-catching 25-1 record as they signed off with an 80-51 win against Campus Promete.
