Reyer Venezia pass road test as five teams punch tickets for next round

FRIBOURG (EuroCup Women) - Reyer Venezia made it four wins from four in the Regular Season as they sealed next round spots, along with four other sides on Thursday.

TTT Riga, Namur, Spar Citylift Girona and Sleza Wroclaw all maintained their winning starts with eight teams now confirmed in the next round.

It was not an easy ride for Venezia as they were pushed all the way by Elfic Fribourg, before completing a 55-66 victory.

The visitors were up 10 at half-time, but after a low-scoring third period, Fribourg made a run to close within a single point.

However, Venezia put together a 15-4 close to seal their fourth win, Debora Carangelo top scoring with 15 points.

Group A
TTT Riga held onto their unbeaten record by the narrowest of margins as Shey Peddy starred with 29 points to lift her side to a 65-66 victory on the road against Besiktas.

The visitors looked troubled, down 62-56 with 1:34 left on the clock, but Peddy netted seven straight points before capping a decisive 10-0 run to snatch the win.

Olympiacos bounced back from suffering their first loss last week as they eased to a 56-85 win away at Gorzow behind Victoria Macaulay's 24 points.

Group C
Sparta&K M.R Vidnoje snapped their losing start to the Regular Season in impressive fashion as they defeated Umea Udominate 79-65.

The damage was done in the first half with the hosts leading 46-18 at the break and there was no way back for their Swedish opponents, despite a valiant 19 points and 16 boards from Ana-Marija Begic off the bench.

Meanwhile, Artego Bydgoszcz took a step closer to the next round as they improved to 3-1 with a 78-65 home success against MBA Moscow.

Jennifer O'Neill and Denesha Stallworth combined for 44 points with Julie McBride one rebound shy of a triple-double, after finishing with a 13-9-10 line.

Group E
Sharnee Zoll-Norman produced 15 points and 8 assists to lead Sleza Wroclaw into the next round as they overcame Basket 90 Gdynia 59-66 on the road.

Group G
Spar Citylift Girona had five players in double figures - including double-doubles for Nadia Colhado and Shante Evans - in a convincing 81-68 triumph over Lointek Gernika Bizkaia.

Elsewhere, Basket Landes improved their chances of joining Girona in the next round as they recovered from a slow start to beat VBW CEKK Cegled 59-76 with 19 points for Celine Dumerc.
