MUNICH (EuroCup Women) - Serbian international Sara Krnjic's biggest performance of the season came at just the right time for KSC Szekszard, steering the club to a spot in the Round of 8.
Traveling to Wroclaw on Wednesday night with a deficit of five points following the home leg in Hungary a week prior, Szekszard needed a special performance if they were to continue their European journey. In the end, they got two. Top Performer Krnjic showed her plethora of skills, hitting 6-of-8 from the field, on the way to a 14-point, 11-rebound, 6-assist, 3-steal performance for an efficiency of 30.
Helping from the backcourt, Slovenian star Teja Oblak came up just shy of a triple-double, finishing with 16 points, 11 assists and 7 rebounds, seeing Szekszard turn over the first-leg deficit and secure an 84-74 win.
Helping out Krnjic up front in this week's Top Performer team is Dearica Hamby. The Virtus Eirene center led her Italian club to victory in a tight-fought tie with Basket 90 Gdynia, 71-66. Hamby finished the game with 23 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals.
Over in Spain, Magali Mendy was another clocking season-best figures. The shooting guard produced a season-high 21 points, highlighted by 3-of-4 three-pointers, as well as 5 rebounds and 4 assists for good measure. Her team, Uni Girona, comfortably won the return leg of her tie 89-62.
Polishing off the team of the week is Bosnia and Herzegovina international Marica Gajic. A recurring player in the Top Performers this season, her latest appearance came thanks to 13 points and 16 rebounds as Mersin completed the double over the favored TTT Riga.
