Ajdukovic could be the key to unlock the dreams of Wroclaw

WROCLAW (EuroCup Women) - If Sleza Wroclaw want to realize their dreams of a historic first EuroCup Women victory, then the towering Tijana Ajdukovic could be their main source of joy.

The FIBA EuroBasket Women 2015 winner is set to be the centerpiece of their challenge and brings plenty of previous experience to their locker room, having played with Sopron Basket last season in EuroLeague Women.

Ajdukovic also knows Poland well after a brief spell with Energa Torun in EuroLeague Women and is thrilled to be back in the country.

She said: "I have really good memories and I have been following the Polish league all the time.

"I was positively surprised that Sleza won the Polish Championship last season and the club has made great progress over the last three years."

"I do not like talking about myself much, but I do have a lot of experience in European competitions and so I can certainly give a lot to teams and I will fight on the court," she added.

Wroclaw are preparing to end a 16-year hiatus from European club competition, having last entered the Ronchetti Cup in 2001-02.

Head Coach, Arkadiusz Rusin is determined his side will post a strong performance - with Ajdukovic at the heart of their strategy.

He declared: "I remember Tijana playing at Energa Torun and giving some good performances in EuroLeague Women, intertwined with the weaker Polish league.

"Our challenge will be to show a high level and Tijana is a player who still has a lot to prove as she is only 26 years old," concluded Coach Rusin.

Sleza Wroclaw will compete in Group E against Istanbul Universitesi, Agu Spor and the winner of Basket 90 Gdynia and Spartak Noginsk.
