Star power: Osman, Korkmaz named in Turkey squad
ISTANBUL (Turkey) - Turkey are assured of being locked and loaded for their FIBA EuroBasket 2022 campaign after naming a 24-man squad that includes Cedi Osman, Furkan Korkmaz.
ISTANBUL (Turkey) - Turkey are assured of being locked and loaded for their FIBA EuroBasket 2022 campaign after naming a 24-man squad that includes Cedi Osman, Furkan Korkmaz and up-and-coming centers Omer Yurtseven and Alperen Sengun.
Osman and Korkmaz last played for the national team at last year's FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Victoria, Canada.

National team coach Ergin Ataman has four of the players in the Anadolu Efes club he leads, including Shane Larkin and Ahmet Bugrahan Tuncer, and three stalwarts in the Fenerbahce club that lifted the Turkish domestic title this past season, including sharpshooter Melih Mahmutoglu and James Metecan Birsen.
Another experienced hand from past Turkish national team campaigns, Sertac Sanli of Barcelona, is in the squad ahead of the EuroBasket with Ataman's team set to play in Group A in Tbilisi against Georgia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Spain and Montenegro.

Players in the Turkey squad will hit the ground running at the EuroBasket because before that event tips off, they will compete in the European Qualifiers for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023.
Turkey are in Group I in the Second Round and have a game at Latvia on August 25 and at home against Serbia on August 28.
