FIBA EuroBasket Dream Teams: Lithuania

MUNICH (Germany) - No matter how tough the competition is, you can always expect Lithuania to pass the test with flying colors. In fact, FIBA EuroBasket podiums look weird without the yellow, green and red of the Baltic powerhouse.

Finding a country as basketball crazed as Lithuania is a tall order, with the sport an important part of Lithuania's heritage, dating back to back-to-back titles in FIBA EuroBasket 1937 and 1939 on a perfect 12-0 record.

The country went on to provide a number of world-class players in the decades that followed, and picked continued its winning tradition in the 1990s after regaining independence with a runner-up finish in FIBA EuroBasket 1995 and three consecutive Olympic bronze medals in 1992, 1996 and 2000.

The new millennium saw Lithuania emerge as one of the most decorated nations in FIBA EuroBasket: gold in 2003, bronze in 2007, followed by a pair of silver medals in 2013 and 2015.

Add another bronze to the tally from the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2010, and the fact that seemingly all of their players reach another level when playing for the national team - it is easy to see why thousands of fans follow the team, no matter where it plays.
