MKD survive Berisha's wild dance from hero to villain in Kosovo

PRISTINA (FIBA EuroBasket 2021 Pre-Qualifiers) - Dardan Berisha exploded for 32 points, but missed the key free-throw, allowing the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia to leave Kosovo with a 76-73 win.

Turning point: Everything was going in for Dardan Berisha, who made five three-pointers in the second half to keep the hosts in this one. It seemed like he was going to single-handedly erase the 73-65 deficit in the final minute, after he knocked down his sixth triple of the game, and was fouled on a potential game-tying three with just over five seconds to play.

But Berisha missed the first of the three free throws, meaning MKD stayed in front and iced the game from the charity stripe at the other end.

Game hero: Vojdan Stojanovski had an off day with 9 points on 2-of-13 shooting, but it was not felt because Stojan Gjuroski came up big off the bench, with 14 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal in 23 minutes of work.

Stats don't lie: Coach Jordanco Davitkov must be proud of the way his team kept things under control in all 40 minutes. Massive pressure from the packed stands in Pristina did not intimidate MKD, they turned the ball over just 8 times.

Game notes: These two are becoming the hottest new rivals in Europe. They split their series in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 European Pre-Qualifiers last summer, with both teams winning at home. MKD are the first to win on the road, taking a big step towards the FIBA EuroBasket 2021 Qualifiers.

They said: "The team was competed from the beginning. We played this summer in Switzerland and we want to get back MKD basketball back to where it must be . Step-by-step, game-by-game and we will finish first in the Group. We were playing hard from the beginning of the game, and we wanted a little bit more to win this game" - MKD player Bojan Trajkovski.
