    Spain add six players from Benahavis group to Madrid training camp

    MADRID (FIBA EuroBasket 2017) - Guillem Vives, Joan Sastre, Xavi Rabaseda, Pierre Oriola, Sebas Saiz and Ilimane Diop will attend Spain's second training camp in Madrid ahead of FIBA EuroBasket 2017.

    MADRID (FIBA EuroBasket 2017) - Spain coach Sergio Scariolo has called Guillem Vives, Joan Sastre, Xavi Rabaseda, Pierre Oriola, Sebas Saiz and Ilimane Diop to the national team's second training camp that gets underway on Friday in Madrid ahead of FIBA EuroBasket 2017.

    Among the 16 players that took part in the first training camp staged in Benahavis, Malaga, that tipped off on July 16, the six will link up with 11 other, mostly established, stars in the national team set-up, such as FIBA EuroBasket 2015 MVP Pau Gasol.

    Vives, Oriola and Sastre were members of the Valencia Basket side that won the club's first-ever Spanish title in the 2016-17 campaign.

    Vives was also in the Spain team that captured the FIBA EuroBasket 2015 crown in France.

    Scariolo coached players from the Benahavis training camp to a couple of friendly game victories over an Israeli selection. The Spaniards won 70-56 and 90-70, respectively.

    Before traveling to Romania to start their FIBA EuroBasket campaign, Spain will have warm-up games against Tunisia, Belgium, Mexico and Venezuela, and a couple of other national teams at tournaments they will play in Brussels and Vilnius.

    In the Group Phase at FIBA EuroBasket 2017, Spain, winners at three of the last four editions of the event, will compete against Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Montenegro and hosts Romania in Cluj-Napoca.

    Spain are coming off a Bronze Medal Game triumph at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
