Doncic and Randolph lead Slovenia to Quarters with rout of Ukraine

ISTANBUL (FIBA EuroBasket 2017) - Dominant performances from Luka Doncic and Anthony Randolph led Slovenia to a convincing 79-55 victory over Ukraine and into the Quarter-Finals.

In the Round of 16 clash, Doncic dominated early to set up a big early lead for Slovenia. Randolph then took over in the second half as Slovenia cruised into the last eight where they will play the winner of Latvia and Montenegro.

Turning point: Slovenia started fast and built a commanding lead at half-time with a dominant second quarter. Even with captain Goran Dragic struggling, Doncic controlled the quarter through his all-round wizardry and Randolph - who had mixed fortunes in the Group Phase - hit his shots to build a game-winning 15-point lead at the long break.

Stats-don't-lie: If Ukraine was to cause an upset, they needed to do everything right. However, they were sloppy with the ball resulting in 18 turnovers to hand the initiative to Slovenia.

Game hero: 18-year-old Luka Doncic clearly relishes the big stage with no signs of nerves during the knockout game. He set the tone for Slovenia in a hot start with 10 points and 4 rebounds in the first quarter. He finished with 14 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists in just 24 minutes.

They Said: "From day one, the team and country welcomed me with open arms. It shows on the court the chemistry we have. (Defense) is something I focus on. We have great guards who can get buckets whenever they want. Even if my shot isn't falling, defense is something I can control." - Slovenia's Anthony Randolph speaking after his team's Round of 16 victory over Ukraine.
