Rosado, Villalobos, George highlight Centrobasket's first day

SAN SALVADOR (El Salvador) - After the first day of the Centrobasket Women’s Championship, a number of players stood out for their performances on Wednesday. Here are the top three players from the first day of games between Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands as well as Costa Rica and El Salvador:

Pamela Rosado (PUR)

Rosado came up big for Puerto Rico in Wednesday’s matchup against the Virgin Islands. The point guard led the way for her team with 18 points on nearly 60 percent shooting while also capturing 7 rebounds. She was instrumental in getting Puerto Rico into an offensive rhythm with her savvy passing encapsulated in eight assists, which ultimately allowed Puerto Rico to pull off the win. It will be exciting to watch Rosado as this tournament unfolds this weekend.

Anisha Briana George (ISV)

George dominated in the U.S. Virgin Islands narrow loss to Puerto Rico. She simply could not be stopped, and the stat sheet seems to confirm that. George finished the game with 30 points on 14 for 19 shooting while also grabbing 15 boards. She allowed her team to have multiple second chance opportunities, but they just could not capitalize in the loss.

Kimberly Villalobos (ESA)

Villalobos was key in El Salvador’s victory against Costa Rica. The center recorded a double-double in the victory for the hometown team with 16 points and 11 rebounds. She was efficient on both sides of the ball, knocking down her free throws and grabbing the defensive rebounds. It is evident 19-year-old Villalobos has a lot of potential and adds a great paint presence for El Salvador.
