BCL Americas Final 8 teams are set

MIAMI (United States) - The Board of BCL Americas met to discuss various issues related to the second season, including the unfolding situation due to the pandemic.

After careful evaluation and in accordance with the FIBA Return to Basketball Protocol under COVID-19, the scheduled games of the third qualifying stage of Groups B & C were suspended.

The tournament stage was faced with a complex situation. The states of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) had restrictions which closed all non-essential activities. Furthermore, flights between Argentina, Brazil, and Chile were limited and difficult to arrange. Therefore, in agreement with the participating clubs, it was decided to terminate the remaining qualifying stage games for Groups B & C.

The teams qualified for the Final 8 of BCL Americas are:

Group A:
1. Real Estelí (Nicaragua)
2. Caballos de Coclé (Panama)

Group B:
1. Quimsa (Argentina)
2. Sao Paulo (Brazil)

Group C:
1. San Lorenzo (Argentina)
2. Franca (Brazil)

Group D:
1. Flamengo (Brazil)
2. Minas (Brazil)

The Board also confirmed the date and time for the BCL Americas Draw that will determine the pairings for the Playoffs. The drawing will air on the official FIBA and BCL Americas YouTube channel on April 5th at 2pm ET (Miami time).

The final round will be held in a single venue with knockout matches, beginning with the Quarterfinals on April 10th and ending with the championship game on April 13th. The venue for the Final 8 will be announced shortly.
