Friday preview: Czechs hope to stay in the race and the unbeaten trio in action

MUNICH (Germany) - The FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 European Qualifiers action continues on Friday with another seven games taking place across Groups E-H.

Belgium, Germany, Finland and Slovenia became the latest teams to book their places in the Second Round,  leaving eight places still to be decided over the next four days.

Three unbeaten sides are in action as France, Lithuania and Spain look to maintain their perfect records, while up to five teams can make it through to the next phase.

The great escape

Poland managed to find a way to live to fight another day after their dramatic overtime win over Israel last night. There are a handful of teams in action on Friday that need to draw similar inspiration if they are to avoid an early exit in the World Cup Qualifiers.

Czech Republic would arguably be the biggest casualties if they fail to make it out of the First Round and they face a tough test at home to Bosnia and Herzegovina, though a defeat would not signal the end of the road as long as Lithuania defeated Bulgaria, who are still in a precarious position.

Meanwhile, Portugal need to beat Hungary on their travels and North Macedonia face an unenviable task of heading to Spain where defeat, coupled by a win for Ukraine, would end their hopes.
