National federations of World Cup teams take part in China 2019 workshop

SHENZHEN (China) - FIBA on Sunday held a workshop with the national federations of teams that will play at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019.

Coming in the aftermath of Saturday's draw, the workshop was an opportunity to provide wide-ranging and up-to-date information about the biggest basketball competition and for the participants to take home where they can share it within their respective federations.

This knowledge sharing process is instrumental in the teams getting the most out of FIBA's flagship competition in exchange for doing what is expected of them.

FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklis and Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) President Yao Ming opened the proceedings by addressing the participants. With FIBA President Horacio Muratore also present, the participants received updates on a wide range of matters by officials from FIBA's Events, Marketing, TV and Communications departments, as well as by representatives from the China 2019 Local Organizing Committee (LOC) and of the eight host cities.

An important point of emphasis put across to the attendees was the creation of a project dedicated to making every player's World Cup experience as memorable as possible, from the moment they arrive and right through until they leave.

The workshop also provided information on topics including: competition schedule, competition management, logistics (venues, accommodation, transportation), ticketing (sales from the perspective of the national federations), TV production and promotion of the digital campaign 'The World's Got Game'.

"This workshop was very beneficial to us at FIBA and I hope it was for the participants too," said FIBA President Muratore. "We understand that for a World Cup to be successful, it takes everyone working together - FIBA and our regional offices, our national member federations as well as our partners. This is especially important if we want to deliver on the high expectations and hopes of having a World Cup unlike we've ever had before."
