Fourth window sets World Cup Qualifiers records for social media impressions and reach

MIES (FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Qualifiers) - Riveting games, massive crowds - 26 contests were sellouts - and the clinching of the six first World Cup spots made the start of the Second Round of FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Qualifiers unforgettable.

357 million people were reached in the September window, the highest reach achieved to date in a single window since the World Cup Qualifiers tipped off in November 2017.

All of this adds up to a record 2.4 billion impressions across all digital channels.

Since the conclusion of the First Round in July, there have been 60,000 more downloads of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 app and 1 million new fans are now following the @FIBAWC accounts on Facebook, Weibo, Instagram and Twitter.

The beauty of the World Cup Qualifiers has been the opportunity for fans to get closer to their national team heroes and seeing them in person wearing the country's jersey. It has also offered the players a chance to compete in meaningful games on home soil in front of family, friends and supporters of the national team.

To strengthen this relationship, fans have been encouraged to reveal their favorite player from the World Cup Qualifiers on Instagram. If the player answered, a special #ThisIsMyHouse artwork was created for them. With more than 90 players answering, it made the post announcing the campaign the most commented publication of @FIBAWC's Instagram account.
