Poland gear up for Qualifiers with 20-man squad

WARSAW (FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 European Qualifiers) - Poland coach Mike Taylor should have a wealth of EuroBasket experience in his team that plays in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 European Qualifiers next month against Hungary and Lithuania.

All 12 members of the side that competed in Helsinki this summer are in the 20-man preliminary squad for the Qualifiers to be played against Hungary on November 24 in Gdynia and at Lithuania two days later in Klaipeda.

One of the standouts from this summer was Mateusz Ponitka, the Iberostar Tenerife star who averaged 12.8 points and 7.2 rebounds per game in his third EuroBasket and had a team-high efficiency rating of 15.8.

Ponitka was a leading player in the Basketball Champions League last season with Pinar Karsiyaka and has had a good start to the second edition with Iberostar Tenerife, as has another Polish EuroBasket player, Damian Kulig of Banvit.
