    Greece linchpin Bourousis, rising star Larentzakis in squad for fifth window

    Greece's leading player in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 European Qualifiers, Ioannis Bourousis, and rising star Giannoulis Larentzakis will go into battle for their country in the final window.

    ATHENS (Greece) - Greece's leading player in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 European Qualifiers, Ioannis Bourousis, and rising star Giannoulis Larentzakis will go into battle for their country in the sixth and final window.

    The 35-year-old Bourousis has averaged 16.0 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.0 assists after appearing in seven games. Larentzakis, a member of the AEK team playing at the FIBA Intercontinental Cup in Rio de Janeiro this weekend, has featured in eight Qualifiers and averaged 9.8 points while hitting 12 of 26 attempts (46.2 percent) from 3-point range.

    The squad features plenty of standout performers in the Basketball Champions League, including PAOK star Linos Chrysikopoulos, the Gameday 7 MVP after his outstanding performance in his team's upset of Iberostar Tenerife in the Canary Islands.

    Core members of the impressive Promitheus Patras team in the BCL - Christos Saloustros, Leonidas Kaselakis, Dimitrios Katsivelis and Nikos Gkikas - are in Thanasis Skourtopoulos' group.

    Bourousis and Larentzakis have been star performers for Greece in the European Qualifiers

    Greece, who currently sit top of Group L with a 9-1 record,  head into their final two games at home to Georgia on February 21 in Heraklion and at Germany on February 24, in Bamberg, as the No. 8 team in the Ranking. The Germans have also won 9 games with their only loss at Greece on November 30, 92-84.

    That game, therefore, is likely to decide first place in the group.
