Players on hot streaks heading into the fifth Asian Qualifiers window

BEIRUT (FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Asian Qualifiers) - With just about a week to go till the fifth window of the Asian Qualifiers tips off, here are some players who are set to bask in the spotlight.

These are players who've been highly productive in their own domestic professional or club leagues, and their hot streaks may just help them make big splashes in the coming Asian Qualifiers window.

Tom Abercrombie (New Zealand Breakers - NBL)

Stats: 9.1ppg, 5.8rpg, 51.1 FG%.
Let's begin with one of the toughest players for the Tall Blacks - a guy who may not explode for 30 points for the Breakers in NBL-Australia, but someone who'll be a consistently reliable performer. With some veterans skipping the fifth window, New Zealand are poised to lean on the 31-year-old wingman even more, but if he remains efficient, then the Tall Blacks should be in good shape.

Cam Gliddon (Brisbane Bullets - NBL)

Stats: 17.5ppg, 3.7rpg, 2.5apg, 1.4spg, 3.5 triples per game, 39.8 3pt%.
This 6ft 6in (1.98m) sharp-shooter has been hitting threes at a blistering rate for the NBL's Brisbane Bullets, and he will most certainly be among the main weapons for coach Andrej Lemanis in the next window. The 29-year-old, however, does more than that. He is a great rebounder for a perimeter player, and he's a solid defender as well. If the Boomers are to finally lock-in that World Cup berth, then Gliddon's shooting will be crucial.

Oh SeKeun (Anyang KGC - KBL)

Stats: 16.6ppg, 9.1rpg, 2.3apg, 1.3spg, 53.3 FG%.
This grizzled veteran continues to wow the crowds in the KBL as he routinely records near-double-double numbers. It's no wonder that he remains one of the no-brainer choices as power forward for Korea, and with a couple of critical fixtures happening in the next window, they'll need Oh to be at his very best as a complement to superb naturalized center Ra Guna (the former Ricardo Ratliffe).

Christian Standhardinger (San Miguel Beer - PBA)

Stats: 23.3ppg, 13.6rpg, 60.0 FG%.
This Filipino-German frontliner has endeared himself to Filipino fans with his humble personality and no-non-sense style of play. Sure, Standhardinger is a tad awkward, but that won't matter next to his 30-point production. For the San Miguel Beermen of the PBA, this highly coveted rookie has been extremely effective, actually emerging as their best local player in the current Governors' Cup, putting up even better numbers than 4-time MVP June Mar Fajardo.

Ali Haidar (Beirut Club - LBL)

Stats: 16.8ppg, 10.0rpg, 2.0apg, 1.5bpg, 1.5spg.
Like Standhardinger, Haidar is a scrappy and gritty frontcourt player. He will be in your face from opening tip to final buzzer, and he's been a big reason for Beirut Club's rise in the LBL. Haidar's inside scoring, rebounding and stout defense have been integral for the club, and those same things will be very important as Lebanon try to win important games against Korea and China.

Alex Zhigulin (BC Astana - VTB United League)

Stats: 10.6ppg, 4.9rpg, 2.0 triples per game, 48.3 3pt%.
Zhigulin isn't much of a top-of-mind elite player in the Asian Qualifiers circuit, but he has actually been doing well for BC Astana in the VTB United League. Very recently, the 6ft 9in (2.05m) center sank 5 three-pointers in a win over VEF Riga, and if that's any indication of how well he will play in the fifth window against the Philippines and Japan, then both of those teams better watch out.

Yuki Togashi (Chiba Jets - B.League)

Stats: 12.8ppg, 5.4apg, 2.1rpg, 2.1 triples per game.
He may be small, but Yuki Togashi is surely one terrible problem for Japan's foes. The 25-year-old playmaker has been tearing up the competition in the B.League for the Chiba Jets, thanks to great instincts on offense and his uncanny quickness. With amazing talents Rui Hachimura and Yuta Watanabe not playing in the fifth window, the onus is on Togashi to really step up and try to carry Japan as they fight to stay alive in the race for those World Cup slots.

Wang Zhelin (Fujian Sturgeons - CBA)

Stats: 24.2ppg, 12.6rpg, 3.4apg, 1.1bpg.
Wang may not be among China's biggest names, but he is certainly one of their most imposing players. The 7ft 0in (2.14in) slotman has also been rock-solid for CBA side Fujian Sturgeons, where he has been a double-double machine. He has, in fact, recorded double-doubles in all but one of his games. If he makes the cut for China's final 12 in the fifth window, he should be among their primary inside operators on both offense and defense.
