JunBeom shines as Korea repel New Zealand to open Qualifiers

WELLINGTON (FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Asian Qualifiers) - New Zealand's quest for revenge blew up in smoke thanks to the hot shooting of Korean sniper Jeon JunBeom.

The 1.95m Jeon caught fire for the visiting Koreans in this global opening of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Qualifiers, hitting a total of 6 three-pointers en route to finishing with 22 points as Korea prevailed on the road, 86-80. Veteran big man Oh SeKeun also delivered the goods for Korea with a 14-point, 10-rebound double-double.

New Zealand, meanwhile, were paced by Corey and Tai Webster, who tallied 16 and 14 points respectively. With this result, the Tall Blacks remain winless against a Korean side that defeated them twice in the FIBA Asia Cup 2017.

Korea next play China at home in the Goyang Gymnasium, while New Zealand travel to the Southorn Stadium to face Hong Kong on 26 November 2017.
